show us pics of your desk

This is where I write. This is a somewhat tragically beat up old desk that was purchased for my Grandfather's adoptive mother by one of her sons when he graduated college (sometime in the 40's). It has seen its better days, but I like all the dents and dings, they each tell a story.

I wish I could post a pic here. But sadly I don't really have a desk.

I mean yes I have a desk that my computer is on as well as some other stuff but I don't really use it.

All my writing is done all over. Rarely do I sit at my desk. Usually it's a cafe or the park bench. On the floor in the living room. Anywhere but my desk is what I say.

I spent too much time behind a desk with school and now work. I like the freedom.

Happy writing,

Basilios

Hi all "show us pics of your desk" folk. I came across this posterous site #deskPOV, that is an art project that invites people to send in -- what else? -- pics of their desk! Boy do they need help. The pics here are really great compared to the sad collection of computer monitors and keyboards over there. Anyway, you might want to send them a pic. I did (it's on the bunch dated 11/22/10).

It may be worn, but I really like it. Sometimes the most beat up desks are the best. I know my desk is about ready to fall apart, but I love it anyway.

Thank you very much! My favorite "flaw" is where the finish has been eaten off of the top in the shape of an ice cream cone. My Grandfather left a car air-freshener on it, apparently. It seems silly, but it's a lovely reminder of how quirky he was.

Don't look at this if you're easily horrified!

I'd love to tell you this is my desk on a particularly bad day but, alas, it's pretty normal. I guess I'm not a very tidy person...

Painterspal,

What is the green pen on the notepad? It looks like a Stipula Saturno, but maybe not? Oh, and what is the demonstrator with red accents next to the Lamy ink? You've got a lot of pens I like on that desk.

here's mine. I only made it to page 23 and I'm getting tired but I'll look at the rest later... it's interesting to read posts from members from the past few years.

fold out table on the left to hold all my 'pen work' stuff. tools and things.

the wood shavings on the desk are from one of my two current blocks currently in the works. my mechanic gave me this desk. i'd be lost without it.

this whole area is at one end of our upstairs. the whole 2nd floor is going to be a master suite one day, and this area will be a big ole bathroom in a couple of years.

Is that a Montblanc I see, or just a Sailor? Plus a Visconti, and a Pelikan M215.

Hmm, lets see... Stipula Saturno, MB146, Pelikan M650, 215, Conway Stewart 37 (sticking out of the pot), a pair of Aurora Optima Demonstrators, a Visconti Van Gogh midi, several Parker 75s, including my treasured 1964 original, and a nice green striated Sheaffer plunge filler. Curious, none of my Danitrios or Nakayas on show - what was I thinking! Looks like a 'recently home from work, just got five minutes to tune up that Stipula stub before supper' sort of shot!

Here is a custom stand up desk and stool that I had built this year. I love it!

John

That is a very neat desk. Something like that must be perfect for using with your fountain pens. Very nice work!

Thank you! I love the desk more and more.

It was great to be involved in the building process with the furniture maker.

The 1st angle works out great for Fountain pens.

I agree, very nice desk and chair! What is the height and width of the inclined part? Also could you show a side view? Cheers.

Thank you

The inclined parts

46" off the floor to the center of the slant. This was designed to my height and comfort for writing.

The slant board is also 24" wide. I made a mock up desk and made sure what height would work out for standing and sitting on the stool.

I will take a picture of the side of the desk tomorrow and post it.

Thanks again!

John
