I figure it's time to post an update as I switched offices. I knew I was moving so I sort of planned more what I wanted in this office and slowly acquired the things I wanted so when I moved they could go in pretty quickly! So on with the pics (more of my office, than specifically my desk).

http://facstaff.uww.edu/pellizzt/pics/office/office1.jpg

Just an overall view of the front of the desk. Nice and clean like I like it. (Not always that way, but I try try try my hardest). You'll notice on the wall the 4 pictures staggered are Richard Binder's cutaway pictures. They have drawn quite a bit of attention and interest from most people that walk in here. The picture to the far right is a handwritten quote from the prince (My favorite quote by far), inked by one of our own! The top is Italian and the bottom is the English Translation. I'm still working managing the cord situation under the desk. I get a new computer with dual 22" monitors though in a few weeks so I'm figuring I'll reorganized them then.

http://facstaff.uww.edu/pellizzt/pics/office/office2.jpg

View of the back of the desk. Mainly a filing area. The most noticeable thing I think though is the Noodlers ink collection up top! Certainly draws the most questions out of anything my office (my office mates now think I really am certifiably crazy). It literally stretches the full length of the back with 3 oz bottles (some are hiding behind 4.5 oz bottles). On the lower left is my pen storage (all my pens are stored at work) Cubi Jr. Drawers with GoPens trays. in the bottom unit, the top unit hold my ink review books. The aquarium houses one cool red/blue betta fish. Again cord situation needs to be dealt with!

View when you walk in the door. The most important view to me at least. You'll notice a minimum amount of cords are seen on the top of the desk. Lots of writing space. Bookshelf in the back needs some help, but that'll come as soon as the rest of my new furniture arrives.

http://facstaff.uww.edu/pellizzt/pics/office/office4.jpg

View from out my new windows!! Quite a difference, I used to be housed in an office in the basement, now I'm up on the second floor, with a great view of the campus. Right in front of the windows I have two big lateral files coming in, plus a wood counter for them. It'll become my filing station among other things. I will gain 7 feet of counter space by doing that, which will free up some other space as well! Really no paper work on my desk then!

Overall I'm super super happy with my office. It took a while to get up here and moved in, but I really created something I feel totally comfortable in and something that helps me work super efficiently and organized. My coworkers hate me for how organized I am actually, but I really do feel it starts with an organized office from the start, so that's what I strive for!

Regards,

Tom

I've really enjoyed this thread - and am a little jealous of some of the setups people have. Anyway, here is mine:

http://sites.google.com/site/ckanderson79/Desk.jpg

I don't have a lot of room, so it is a little cramped. I have two desktops and a laptop. So I maintain a writing space, I have the laptop stand. On my desk I have a Rinolin writing surface - very nice. Just left of center in the picture is my IKEA cabinet. The top drawer has my inks (bottled and cartridge), pen boxes, and extra pens while the drawers below hold all kinds of paper. On top I have a "pen holder" which holds my currently inked pens. On top of the chest of drawers is a Crane Stationery Box holding my fine stationery. It has space for two pens - which currently are occupied by Uniball Signo 207 Gel Pens. And, yes, I have a ton of pencils on my desk - I do a lot of math and it's hard to erase fountain pen.

http://sites.google.com/site/ckanderson79/pens.jpg

My currently inked pens are stored on my desk in a toothbrush holder. From the left is a Waterman Phileas with a medium point and Waterman Florida Blue ink. It is very smooth to write with and I use it for my journal. In the center is a Lamy Logo with a fine point. It is filled with Waterman Black. The Lamy is my favorite writer and what I use for everyday stuff. To the right, hidden by the Lamy, is my Caran d'Ache Dumas filled with Diamante Imperial Purple. The pen arrived yesterday from The Writing Desk so I am seeing how I like it.

Your office is enviable for so many reasons, Tom! Very fun to see. But I can't keep my eyes off all your inks when I look at your pictures!!! Good thing your chair is turned away from them for regular work, or I bet it would be distracting, at least it would be for me! ;)

This is where I do most of my writing at home. The desk is a late 1800's barrel type with walnut burl on the barrel and the doors. Inside the bottom doors are a bunch of drawers, cubby holes and slots for journals etc. That is one of the traveling journals that showed up in today's mail. Pen is a Sailor 1911 full size in black with a med-fine nib. Pen rack on top of desk is a Levenger 12 pen museum case. /Craig

Craig, that is an AWESOME desk!! I love it! So compact and neat.

I agree. It's really wonderful. I just love Victorian furniture.

Craig, that desk is a treasure. I think it would be fair to say that would be the dream desk for many of us.

Very nice setup Tom. Lots of open space and natural light. I would be very happy working there!

I would be cautious of this arrangement. With as much sunlight as you get, having all that ink out in the open exposes it to fading from the UV rays. I would hate to see all that nice ink change colors on you simply by sitting in the sunlight.

My office doesn't have as much natural light as yours, but I only keep one bottle on my desk (the rest are in desk drawers and boxes). It is an ink I don't really care for, so it doesn't bother me that it has faded over time.

Here's my desk and no, the phone doesn't work. It's my wife's idea of decoration.

This is one of my favorite threads. I "could" comment on each of the desk photos posted, but then everyone would be annoyed with me. I love them all! Thanks for showing the special places you've carved out for your personal space.

This is a view of the opposite wall from my desk. I have started a postcard board where I will rotate cards received. A couple of my "many" pen cases on display as well. /Craig

Thanks for the heads up. I've thought about that, but for the most part two things happen. The fluorescents in my office are off (I hate the dang buzzing. As well the shade are pulled about halfway down so that the inks are in the shady area. I opened them up completely for the pictures so there was more light in there. I'll be watching over time though. I would really dig finding a nice cabinet or something that I could put them in on display but shielding them.
