Hey Splicer, don't you know it's dangerous to store a hammer anywhere near a computer!

:ltcapd: :ltcapd: :ltcapd:

There is a tide in the affairs of men which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a full sea are we now afloat, and we must take the current when it serves or lose our ventures.

Don't have a computer desk anymore because I've only got a laptop now. Thought it was about time I showed off my writing desk though (complete with postcard swap postcards ready to go out).

The desk I'd guess is 1930s, it's oak and cost me £15, my inks are all in the drawer under the writing part. If I'm not using my desk then I have an 1880s writing box in ebony and mother of pearl, my pictures of that were taken at my old house with it sitting on top of my old desk. The chair cost nothing, a beat up old Ercol thing that I sanded down and stained.

One of my aims this year is to acquire a nice desk set pen to go with my desk, keep looking at Sheaffers and Parkers, but so far I keep being outbid on Ebay and I always find them on here after they've been sold.

I'm sure your wife doesn't mind you posting a picture of her bra on here. :roflmho:

I was thinking exactly the same thing :roflmho:

Ooooooooooh!!

Very impressive, Carrie, I love them! I wish I could own a rolltop or slant-top desk. They look so elegant.

Hey Carrie! You got one of those little floaty-globe thermometer thingies! I love those. My cousins gave me one for Christmas a few years ago. The're so cute.

Just been catching up on this whole thread, hadn't looked at it for ages until last night. Makes me wonder what sort of division we have between numbers with antique desks and numbers with modern desks.

This is my desk where I work most days. It has become my pen desk. It comes with a pleasant view.

Aurora, Omas and Pelikans... refined taste indeed!

Carrie,

Where did you find the writing desk? I love the red leather on the box.

House clearance, if I hadn't given it a home then it would have been in the skip. The writing box was my expensive buy a good few years ago and came from an antiques dealer who specialised in writing boxes.

Here's mine, somewhat clean. The fountain pens are in the middle cubby, my ink in the right. And an organized list of all the colors are on the back wall there.

Nice desk indeed, like the idea of a organised list of ink colours

Kind regards
