Warning, don't believe that the office usually looks this neat! I did tidy up for the photo shoot.

Here's what you see as you walk in the door:

A little closer view of the desk from the other angle:

And closer still so you can see the two pen cabinets under the desk extension:

One of the drawers open. No, they're not all full. The smaller black cabinet has pencils and ballpoints, etc.

The wood cabinet has pens in the top four drawers, and a few boxed sets in the bottom drawer. One

drawer is empty and one is full of various cartridges and converters.

This is the opposite wall, a much more comfortable writing desk:

And the view as you're leaving the room:

All these pictures are great! This is obviously a group of people with very different personalities, as it seems reflected in the variety of desk choices and in the various degrees of neatness of each workspace :)

I'll gather courage to post some photos of my workspace another day. Gigi

Bill Sexauer, in your first photograph, what's that little dark-brown sloping rectangular box at the end of your desk?

I'm not sure what you call it, but it's a kind of a portable writing desk. The sloping part is hinged and there is space inside for paper, pens/pencils, etc. Stamps, paper clips, envelopes too; there are several little compartments. It's cherry and finished with a dark stain; it doesn't really go with the oak in most of the room but I like it.

Sexauer,

I really like your black pen cabinet with the brass(?) drawer pulls. Are the drawers themselves transparent or black as well? They appear as if they could be transparent in one of your photos but it could just be from the photo.

Where did you find it? It's a great size.

The black cabinet came from an eBay seller named onlineshoppingmall. They always have these, just search eBay for "10 drawer jewelry case" (without the quote marks) and you'll find it. It's not a furniture grade piece, I think it's fiberboard covered with a shiny black crinkle-finish paper. The transparency you are seeing is probably the little transparent pockets that are on the front of each drawer for a label. Not real fancy but about 21 pens per drawer times 10 drawers in very little floor space makes it very functional. It doesn't come with drawer liners for pens, I had to get those separately. I got mine from Gary Lehrer at gopens.com, but I believe they may also be available from Ray Adams at wndpens.com.

Heres my desk... it's really messy at the moment but I'll get around to it (eventually).

Thought I would give some new life to this thread. This is my desk at school. I prefer my one at home, but I've made this one work.

Simple desk... board on file cabinets. Inexpensive set up. Had to be, money went to buy pens.

About a year or a year and a half ago I compared my desk with a friend's in Russia...so today it looks a bit different, I have a two monitor set up, but I'm also in Arizona...with a new desk...but anyway, here is what I had around me all that time ago:

You can always spot an Academic - most of the real estate on the desk is eaten up by stacks of books - books without pictures. I'm impressed.
