show us pics of your desk

As this thread is still running, and I've really enjoyed seeing other people's little havens, I will add mine to the fray. Save for one or two other examples of chaos and carnage evidenced on this thread, I do believe that I have finally found something that I excel at and could become the champion of. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you: My (messiest) desk.

Here's mines. It's temporary until our building is done getting remodeled and I get a new office.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present you: My (messiest) desk.

Very fine taste in music you have, Sir :)!

Martin

Martin. You've caught me out! The only part of the photo I staged. The other CD's were to cheesy or embarrasing to admit to owning or have borrowed! But I have to admit that I thoroughly enjoy penning a letter with Massive Attack playing. A glass of wine helps too...

I'm embarrassed to show this, but this is my office:

I am decidedly jealous of those with clean offices. But mine is what it is...

And Yes, I can get to my chair and (kinda-sorta) find my desk. But I do have people sign a waiver before they enter it. And I try to keep the stacks of things fairly low so that I don't have to worry about one of our cats getting injured if there's a load shift.

I think the only way to clean out the office will be with a Bobcat...

Bruce ... the Chinese character for "chaos" to the right of the pic seems ... well ... somehow appropriate - although from the sounds of it, you've got controlled chaos what with the waivers and the rigidly controlled stack height. <grin> Nice desk mate!

I LOVE LOOOOOOVE this thread!!

Some of the pictures are very inspiring. There's that sweetness, as if I was invited to your home, to see part of your lives...

And here's my little contribution...

This is not a joke. So, should I win the 'most pathetic desk' award? B)

It works for me for now (kind of). It is near the TV, no need to purchase a chair, easily collapsible, and when I move the laptop it easily transforms into a TV dinner table! :roflmho:

I think I posted before, but it was before my "desk" area had matured -- so here's an update. After the manner of my ancestors (and hippies), I am a "floor sitter." This just means that the world is my desk!

So when you're using your desk how do you sit? 正座 (seiza) or cross-legged? Since you have a pad I assume seiza. Good practice though  ! When I was younger I practiced for months just to participate in a very important tea ceremony with my mother. I can't sit in seiza anymore though since I have bad knee's from skiing... >_<

My workstation at home. I am bargaining to get something like this for work. My supervisor and the Labor Relations Manager agree with my design, but unfortunately it violates too many company policies. I took this series of pictures a couple of months ago when the guys at work were commenting on the horrible condition of my work space at work. They wanted to know what my desk looked like at home. I showed them that I could be rather civilized when I was not working in barbaric conditions:-)

I don't think I've seen a larger collection of booze and cigars so close to a working desk. I LOVE that little glass pen thingo you have under the light, though. I WANT ONE LIKE THAT! My gran's glass one is good only for dip-pens and nothing else.

I sit cross-legged. I can't manage a decent seiza for long, but I can sit cross legged without a problem. I wish I could sit like this at work, but of course, I have to use a chair. Do you floor sit, or have you migrated completely to chairs? Just wondering...

Is that a Dupont lighter that I see on your desk? If so... how envious am I. Though I don't smoke, I like them for their *ping* sound and of course they are aesthetically beautiful.

I sit in chairs now. My whole family is completely modernized except for my uncle, at his place they still sit and eat on the floor. I wish i could sit seiza now since it is better for your back, but unfortunately it's impossible for me. Oh ya, you mentioned that your roots are from Japan. What part of Japan is your ancestry from?

Here are my new desks (since I moved house).

The bureau was a gift from a family that were clearing a relative's house. I am really pleased with it.

It is a Davidoff made for them by Dupont. Other than the Davidoff stamping, it is a Dupont Line 2 with a two flame "cigar" tip rather than the single flame "cigarette" tip. They are works of art that can also be used to light a cigar. Very solidly built.

Nah, I still can't show my desk here.

Sometimes I do clean up a little, but before you know, it is a total and utter mess again :).

Warm regards, Wim

Mine's finally presentable, sort of a New Year's resolution. I'm still hoping 100 pounds of typewriters don't come crashing down on me.
