OxiClean and ink stain

Recommended Posts

I was dismayed when arriving home from work the other day to find that my pen had separated in my pocket, and left behind a large, brilliant red spot (Diamine Amaranth) on my new shirt. I let it sit for a couple of days while I tried in vain to find some Amodex locally. A friend recommended OxiClean, referred me to a couple of FPN threads that dealt with stain issues, so I tried it. I followed the directions on the bottle, and it completely removed the stain on the first washing.

I've used it with success, too. I used it to remove Noodler's Tiananmen from a shirt pocket.

I've also used "Ultra Palmolive dish detergent with Oxy and bleach alternatives" to remove Legal Lapis from some gray slacks, and The Violet Vote from a shirt pocket. It works, too.

Now that's REALLY good to know, I've shied away from the bulletproofs, thinking that they would be impossible to get out of clothing.

I also avoided the bulletproofs for a long time thinking they would be impossible to get out of clothing. The first time happened when a cartridge rolled off the table and splattered ink on my pants when it hit the floor. I thought my success in cleaning it was because I used something immediately. The second time was last Friday. My pen leaked in my front pocket (loose cartridge) and the spots were dry when I saw them. It was another two hours before I had a chance to wash the shirt. I put the dish detergent on the spots and rubbed it in with my fingernail, rinsed it in cold water, put a second helping of detergent on the spots, rubbed it in, and let it set overnight. The next day I put it in the wash, and it came out spotless.

I checked. Pants were 100% cotton. Shirt was 65% polyester and 35% cotton.
