Papermate fountain pen

I was cleaning out my desk drawer the other day and decided to go through my pen glass on the top of it, because I was looking for a mechanical pencil that I could reach the restart button on my Pocket PC with, when I was sidetracked by a cool old Parker ballpoint pen, with the arrow clip, of my grandmother's. I saw that and decided to dig around more, since this same cup is where I found the Sheaffer italic pen that was in a calligraphy set of mine bought a few years ago.

 

Lo and behold, I found, of all things, another fountain pen, a Papermate with a medium nib.

I remember seeing it before but don't remember where I got it. Probably another of grandmother's. I keep finding fountain pens! My goodness.

 

Any information that anyone can give me about this fountain pen would be appreciated. If it had a converter at any point, I no longer have it - I don't think it was just a cartridge pen though, I'm almot sure it had a converter at one point. But I don't know.

And I thought I was the only one that had one of these. Mine is a brushed gold colour and has an empty cartridge in it. The barrel is very slim so I'm not sure about fitting a convertor. The nib is a very smooth medium on mine which I found surprising on what I guessed was quite a cheap pen. That's all I know.

I didn't know papermate made fountain pens. Needless to say, that is a very interesting fountain pen.

BTW a Waterman C/C will fit but it's not the correct nipple, you will need to see what other cc's offer.

I like the looks of that pen; it's unmistakeably Paper-Mate, but still a fountain pen -- and quite narrow, for those who like slim pens.

Your pen seems to be in much better condition than mine. I found a spare cartridge laying around and found that this pen does indeed have a very smooth-writing nib. It's kind of awkward to write with for me due to the thinness, but it compensates with smoothness. When you put the cap on, Gary, is it loose? Mine is... Does yours say Germany along the open end of the cap?

My cap seems to be secure. I'll check the cap for any sign of "Germany".

 

I don't use this pen as it's too slim for me as well. The nib is steel, gold plated and you can see in the pic where it has worn off. Still an nice writer though.

I have nothing informative to add here, just that I didn't know Papermate ever made FP's, and that pen is adorable.

I've seen several pens like these sans breathing holes or whatever they're called. What I don't understand, is how the ink can be drawn through without such a hole. I thought they were necessary...
