If you could only have one pen

I actually thought about that quite recently and I think I've made up my mind.

It would definately be my beloved Faber Castell eMotion ivory parquet EF nib.

I love, no I mean I LOVE this pen.

While I'm writing this on my living room couch, I'm watching my really fat neighbor across the street walk around in her driveway talking on her cellphone and wearing extremely baggy leopard print pajamas with fake flames shooting up the backs of the legs. Why did I have to look out the window?

OK, to answer the question, one of every small geegaw I really value goes into my bug out truck (BOT). This morning I'm placing an inexpensive but bulletproof Ohto F-Spirit in there, too. Or, an even more expensive and even more bulletproof Visconti Rembrandt. Or somethin'.

If I had to choose only one it would by the Pilot Vanishing Point with an F nib. Most of my writing is in making short notes and usually my other hand is otherwise occupied so a pen I can operate easily one handed is very important. Also, the clip works well on almost all my shirt pockets.

Some would be abhorred at the idea, but I'd want it to be a C/C pen on the off chance I need a handy way to travel with ink and refill on the move - cartridges do that excellently, even if they are limited in choice.

A converter, although small in capacity, is something I find to be convenient too.

The actual pen I'm not too sure about - maybe a Parker 45 flighter, as that's fairly rugged compared to the normal 45s. However, they are a bit small.

I haven't tried one but a modern Parker may also do the job, something like a Duofold - the black and pearl ones are beautiful! Though I'd need to try them first.

Parker 75, Ingenuity, Premier, Sonnet, Urban | Pelikan M400 | TWSBI Diamond 580 | Visconti Rembrandt

Currently inked: Diamine Apple Glory (Rembrandt), Pelikan 4001 Turquoise (M400), Lamy Black (Diamond 580)

If I were to choose from my current collection, it would be Sheaffer Imperial cartridge filler Inlaid gold fine nib or Sheaffer Targa gold fine nib as well.

That's if I need to save my pens from disaster such as fire. But, wait, I keep my precious pens in pens case, so, I will just grab the case and keep them all. :)

Imagine the limitations: One pen to used anywhere, under every conceivable circumstance. Fountain pens are out because ink may not be available in the African bush. They might not write in the Arctic and don't work well with thermal paper rolls. Delicate pens are out. Expensive or attractive pens are prone to theft. That reduces the field to an inexpensive but very nice Uni-ball Jetstream retractable with a .7mm (medium) point.

And I don't need anything else.

This is a very tough question. My collection does not have higher end pens. However, of the 89 pens I own, my Bexley BX 802 Cappuccino with a 1.1 stub/italic nib would be the pen I would select. The Bexley or my Estie Transitional with B-stub nib with a couple 100 ml. bottles of Chesterfield Antique Yankee will keep me writing. This question is totally unfair.

This picture is absolutely hilarious! Though I answered the question, to consider leaving any of my pens behind would be onerous!

The one pen would be (seems to be my next pen): Montblanc Princesse Grace de Monaco. Its a stunning beauty kind of the true form of femininity in fountain pen world. Not mentioned purple is my favorite color. Meh, the nob size... I use Parker Sonnets, and tending for fine nib, Sonnet's medium is basically a board, but Parker Duofold's medium is a medium which I can live with.. so though question.. meh, I put my vote to medium.

Right This Minute it would be the Pilot Falcon (efs) that I got for Christmas.

That could change tomorrow.

The Pilot Vanishing Point I recently got was a game changer. Since I frequently have to pull out a pen and jot notes the VP makes it so much easier. Being that I ADORE vintage pens it would be a toss up between my VP and my Watermans Commando with a Fine flex nib. Those are my two current favorites.
