If you could only have one pen

No single pen has all the attributes that I would desire in a pen, so I don't wish to give the impression that I'd be happy with this single pen.  Anyway, if I were to go with one pen, I'd choose my Montblanc 146 with a F nib.

I have many pens that mean more to me, but if I had to choose just one it would be my Conid Kingsize Bulkfiller.  The cursive italic nib and the girth of the pen make it a great writer; it has tremendous ink capacity; it never dries out; and it is easily disassembled and thoroughly cleaned.

Isn't this question like asking a parent of nine children which is his or her favourite?

If I could choose a pen not my own, I would choose this one (I might have to climb into the Wayback Machine to get it):

Absolutely the best answer!

Are you implying you have 9 pens worthy of that top spot? 🤫

Starting over again, I might just claim a fine or stub point aerometric Parker "51", or one of my O\Pelikans, all M2xx with fine nibs.  But I also have to admit I really miss a really wonderful red FPR Jaipur I used to have with a stock 1.0M stub.  And that makes me wonder if I would really rather have an ebonite Jaipur v2 with a steel stub, presuming it was as reliable as that red Jaipur was.

Wow, this is an old thread.

I'd choose a gel pen, honestly. With a metal body. Cuz it would have to last, and be able to work in many different environments and positions.

I have to say yes to that, but I said nine because my maternal grandparents had nine children and I needed a sizeable number.

Ballpoints, gel pens, and markers don't count for the purposes of this thread.  If they did, I'd just have to borrow them at need.

I would lend it to you if you came to visit my desert island. Or stab you with it for a meal. 50/50. 😜

Right now, if I could have only one pen it would be a Scribo Feel with the 14k EF flex nib. They are very well built and the nib is good for both regular daily writing as well as more expressive use. They are really a great pleasure to write with and the only pen I could imagine as a substitute for my whole pen collection.

How are we supposed to have only one pen or be at peace with what we have when we read testimonies like these. 😋

I don’t have a faceted pen and the Scribo feel has been on my radar. Faintly so, but there. 😈

It is unwise to join a forum like this, isn’t it? If you enjoy what you have then best not to keep looking at things like this. There are many nice pens and none of them will markedly change your life.

But if you do get a Scribo I’d love to hear what you think. As I say, I recommend especially the extra-fine 14k flex nib.

This is a Zen moment for me; thank you.

I've always lusted after a nice Omas 360.    6-7 years ago, a work acquaintance, knowing that I tinkered with pens asked me to take a look at his black 360.  It wouldn't write.  He told me he hadn't used it for a long time.  It was absolutely solid.  Couldn't even turn the piston.  It took me about two weeks of gentle soaking and then cleaning to get the ink (I presume iron gall) out of that pen.  Fell in love with it and really didn't want to give it back!  But now, there's probably no chance I'll ever be able to afford one....
