1. with a 30 x Loupe, what are the key features of this pen to be ident for authenticity? ie how do i know if it's real or fake?

2. Wonder if this pen will worth for years to come?

3. How much is this pen retailing currently? if buying from Boutique, will there be any discount given?

Pls kindly advise. thanks in advance.

Welcome to FPN! I'm certainly not an expert on Montblanc, but if you use the search function for the forum you'll find lots of useful information on how other fakes have been spotted. I'll share a little of what I've read here and there on the board.

Modern Montblanc pens often have the word "Pix" stamped or engraved on the underside of the clip.

I'm not sure if the serial number on the 100 Year Starwalker is on the clip ring or not - you'll have to look through the forum or look at close-ups of the pens on Montblanc's website to help with that one.

The black resin has a reddish tint when looked at under bright light - usually at an angle - but that may not be a sure sign.

The best way to determine if it's genuine would be to take it to a MB Boutique for authenication.

As for prices, some authorized retailers provide discounts, but when buying from a MB Boutique, there isn't usually a discount. And the prices of some pens does increase based on the limited production and desirability of the pen. The Writers' Editions and Patrons of the Arts pens often increase in value because they are limited and have a higher value for collectors who want them.

Either way enjoy your new pen and love it for what it is - a beautiful pen.

Thanks for your advices. Yes, i did try to search in this forum, hoping to get the MB 100 years edition pen pics to do some form of comparisons with it when the pen arrives in the next few days. Just couldn't find one, except for the Starwalker pen where they have the side by side comparisions with both the real and the fake one. things like the diamond.. how do u know it's real? which normal type of starwalker doesn't have one.. And does it has a serial nos on this pen?

Do u know how many of this 100 year edition pen was released in 2006? thousands?

Yes, hope to enjoy this pen when it's arrive.

Pls advise. tks.

If the pen has the diamond in the top... Chances are its going to be real. I have not seen a fake of this pen yet, so you should be good there, you really never know until you get the pen.

You can get this pen at the fountain pen hospital for $460, but at an MB authorized store, they said they could sell if for $379. Generlly speaking there should not be a discount given.

I dont really see this pen gaining a whole lot of value. It was not super popular when it came out, but I think its a really cool pen. I really like the Ceramic one, but its way out of my price range. Please post pics when it arrives.

Cheers!

ok thanks/.. asking becos i can't remember where did i read an article that the 100 year LE has no serial nos.

I just checked my pen. There is a serial number on the clip ring writen vertically parallel to the clip on its right. On the clip ring it has "MONT [100] BLANC". On the under surface of the clip the words "GERMANY" "metal" "Pix" are engraved. However, the 100 year Starwalker Resin is not a limited edition pen, but a special edition, hence it has no limited edition number on it. In contrast with the 100 year Starwalker Ceramic, that has xxxx/1906, and the 100 year Starwalker Platinum, that has xxx/100, which are their limited edition numbers.
