I've always wanted this ink, but then I have Swishmix Burgundy. Of course the standard Burgundy will be a better ink overall, but the Swishmix is mostly waterproof (and I have a lot of it). Does anyone know, though, if the two inks are similar in hue (and thus the standard is simply more saturated) or if the hue is totally different? Swishmix is sometimes a bit purplish, less red. Swisher's Maroon also had a nice color (in a written sample from a friend) but it has bad feathering (being a quick-dry).

Thanks for the review and scan. It's an interesting colour.

Nice color. I may need to consider this one. Thanks for the review.

I need a burgundy thats more red than purple. Could this be it?

That is above all up to your own likings. This ink has a strong color, and to my eyes contains purple as well as red tones.

Great review, thanks! I'm on the hunt for the right burgundy and you spared me a lot of bother. :)

Maybe; the ink in my bottle of Burgundy is somewhat less purple than it appears in the scans above (in my experience colours in this range look more purple on a computer screen). It provides great shading when used with italic nibs (I've just been using it in a Stipula with a 1.1 nib reground to oblique).

I bought Eel Rattler Red and was pleasantly surprised. It's Red wine color to me that is more red than purple, may be exactly what you want. I like it very much so now I'm looking into Burgundy. Regards, BH

I have also purchased Rattler Red recently, and use it as my preferred ink for correcting manuscripts. It's not what I expected, but it is a beautiful red wine colour.
