Is this a Slimline set?

I have this set (chrome) which I have referred to as a Slimline. Is the Slimline and the Noblesse the same?

And is my one or the other?

Many thanks,

Hi Zoe,

Your set is a Montblanc Slimline and not a Noblesse. Slimline pens always have the small plastic star on the clip and a steel nib (no gold nib).

Axel - My montblanc is black with a gold nib and has a star on the clip....what type is it? Thank you. Also do you have a sample of how this pen writes. I have not had a chance to buy ink. Also does it take piston and cartridge.

Thank you. You seem to be the only one with any knowledge on this topic.

but it has a gold nib, which axel says is never on a slimline??

Is Axel still around?

Do you have a better picture of the nib? or can you tell what is written on it?

Your black pen is an '80s MB SlimLine. In the '70s MB tested the market for a skinny-pen with the SlimLine model in metal finishes. Success led to the upscale Noblesse skinny-pen in the '80s.

The Slimline continued with color satin finishes (I have a brown FP and red BP) with gold plate/color? steel nibs. My Noblesse has a traditional style solid gold nib and finished in gold cap and lacquer colored body, it also has a cap with a top lip around the domed star logo top, and clip with a split design that almost looks like it belongs on a Waterman, and gold bands.

i haven't even received my pen yet, I'm just excited. ...are you saying its plastic? I will be slightly disappointed, as i thought it was black matte metal.

could you verify.

Nope. To my knowledge, all Slim Line and Noblesse were metal body/cap.

The early ones had a "bare" metal appearance, next came painted satin colors, then the fancy Noblesse variations. I'm not an expert, but that's the way I remember them. They do feel well made and though they are not heavy, they have noticeably more substance than plastic type thin pens. They are too thin for me, but quite nice. If a skinny pen works for you, I bet you'll be happy.
