Getting the Very Last Bit Out of the Bottle

I would simply buy a bottle of either Pilot ink (70ml bottle) or Sailor ink. Aside from getting a bottle of pretty decent ink either way, their bottles contain a small plastic insert that allows one to get almost all of the ink out of the bottle. You tip the bottle upside down (with the lid securely fastened, of course), and then back to normal. The ink fills the internal plastic inkwell, which is narrow and deep--but accommodates most fountain pen nibs. I keep these bottles handy and just refill them with whatever else I happen to have handy. Works very well.

I have an old waterman bottle where all the dregs get poured. Makes for an interesting experience. Currrently it is a very nice grey green.

Or make new ink mixes in old perfume bottles....

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Some of you mention syringes, but where do you get them? It would be great to be able to refill cartridges. The only ones wide enough to use a pipette are Sailors.

the availability of syringes varies depending on locality and how silly your laws are. sometimes you can just buy them at an apothecary or drug store, sometimes you have to mail order them from more or less shady mail-order apothecaries. having a friend with a medical issue that requires self-injecting can help, too.

(honestly, though i'm not one to break laws carelessly, regulations that limit access to something as simple and useful as a syringe just make me scoff at lawmakers. that sort of puritanism helps noone and improves nothing, so i see no need to respect it either in word or deed. other people's opinions are free to differ.)

Don't know if anyone has suggested it and what about combining the last micro-mls of the same brand and types of ink in "brand" focused bottles and come up with really unique and constantly changing colors?

I'd would be interested in comments about this idea.

Oops, did I just say that???

Even inks from the same brand can have bad reactions, so while that sounds interesting I think there's also a definite potential for problem mixes.
