Camlin 47

Just bought the ED version (47R). Does anyone know what size nib it is in the Camlin 47?

I am thinking it is a 5 or perhaps 5.5mm. Just in case the nib is a bad one that doesn't respond to a polish with the mesh. I just couldn't help myself. I love Indian pens and Eyedropper types in particular.

Its called nib size 00 in the catalog of Indian nib manufacturers. 00 is very different from 5 or 5.5.

The new avatar has an updated cap with a new clip with the Kokuyo Camlin imprint.

The nib remains the same minus the gold plating.

The ebay listing was slightly inaccurate. The pen is the piston-filler and is stamped 'Kokuyo Camlin' on the clip.

How does one extract the piston from the barrel to apply grease?

Apologies to revive a thread that is more than a decade old ! (maybe it shows how valuable these posts are).

I got a Camlin 47 [Kokuyo Camlin one, described in post #84 by Hari].

I really liked the pen, especially the smoothness of the nib.

But, I constantly face the issue of drying of the nib even after leaving it unused after a few hours. How can I repair / address this issue? What are the reasons why the nib dries out ?

Iirc, There is a vent hole in the cap. And it is right where the nib is parked in the closed cap condition. While this hole may prevent an inky mess created by sucking out of ink when uncapping the pen rapidly, it can cause dryout. But ime the pen will take a few days of unuse to dry. If its drying in a few hours looks like a problem in the ink flow train. Just take the nib feed etc apart. Soak in dish washing liquid. Scrub clean with a tooth brush. Rinse and dry off and reassemble and then check. HTH. Edited by hari317
