Yes, as has been said, send a sample and say "That's my writing with a Vac Fine nib(say)...I want a similar width on my downstrokes, but a bit of variation with cross-strokes, and the ability to write quickly (ie not too many 'sharp corners')"

 

Then the nibmeister know exactly what he/she is required to produce...and will, in my experience....almost always do so.

 

Where they haven't, for me, it has because he had been a bit cautious, and I asked him to 'sharpen it up a bit more, please'.
