Pilot Pluminix

london

Recommended Posts

I carefully pushed down and flexes the nib to increase the flow. Do it in stages and test often.

In addition, a little bit of smoothing using Micromesh helped make it a wet pen that shows off shading with the right ink.

Of the 2 I received, one was much dryer than the other but the dryness seems typical of this nib/feed combination and I had experienced that on the Knight, Tank and Prera.

I transplanted the Plumix nib into the Tank and would have installed it on my Knight if not for my custom ground M CI nib that I already have in it.

My Plumix actually started leaking very bad, so Im tossing it, but I'm keeping the nib section for when i get a 78G I can order the fine nib while still having a backup to play with. That or I go with a medium....hmmm. Decision, decisions!

Aaaaaaaaaah...

This brings me back to my n00b days when I purchased my first Fp (the Pilot Plumix) in Target...

I just bought a pink Pluminix from Amazon UK.

Am I right in thinking a Monteverde Mini converter will fit in it? The description says it should fit any FP that takes international cartridges.

Sorry if this is a daft question - I'm new to FP collecting and only really got into it las month. I seem to be addicted already.

I have a Plumix fitted with a Waterman converter, which is a branded standard Schmidt converter, I've read somewhere on this forum. I also understand that there are minor differences between the Plumix and Pluminix, unclear as to what they are. But the standard converter works fine. Also, standard international cartridges, although I did have some flow issues with those. Lastly, one of my Plumixes has been successfully converted to be eyedropper filled - since my pen's barrel is watertight, I just fill with ink and write away. A little silicone grease on the threads between barrel and body help create a good seal.

Good luck. HTH.

Hi,

I just queried a seller of the Monteverde converter about the size of and it is 5.65cm when fully extended and the width of its end is 0.5cm. It will fit in the Pluminix, yeah!!

The only difference between the plumix and the Pluminix is the length of the barrell.

As I am new to collecting I am nervous about eye dropper pens. All I can see is an ink disaster waiting to happen.

I love writing with the Pluminix - I have small hands so the short length is no problem - it makes my handwriting look so much better.

Yes, they are really nice pens. I'm happy with both the eyedroppered one and the one with the standard converter. Both work well, although I have to admit I did have some problems initially - I've posted about it in this forum - related to a defective seal between the nib&feed and its housing. Once that was remedied (however makeshift) I've had no more problems (fingers crossed).

Good luck with yours!

Anyone know of a US source of these pens?

Donnie

I contacted Pilot about retail outlets for this pen and they have discontinued it. If you see one buy it as there wont be anymore.

Im selling some at the moment at my etsy store

Both of my pens use Pilot's proprietary cartridge/converter system and the shorter Pluminix can fit a Con-50 inside no problem.

In the second photo, all pens were aligned at the bottom (out of picture because the way I fixed the pens to the table was quit unsightly).

I have a Pilot Plumix, and I love it! A question about the nib. ---- The words: Pilot -- Quality -- Japan -- (M). The nib does not have the little "round" metal usually found on the tip of the nibs of pens, or at least, most pens. I really love the "line" this nib puts down. My question is: ----- If I buy a new pen that offers different nibs, what would I ask for in order to have a line like this little Plumix puts down? I hope you understand what I am asking. C. Yes it does and at twice its previous price!

You can buy the same nib in a "normal" appearing pen - the Pilot 78G - for $13.95 at JStationary.com. The link goes to the broad nibbed pen which we think of as a "stub". He offers the full 78G line, fine, medium and "broad for the same price too.

If you purchase $20.01 worth of merchandise the shipping is free. He does not have a wide selection of fountain pens or ink and his prices are the best I have seen for his select offerings.

I think a medium italic might do in some pen lines, broad italic in Parker Sonnet.

Just looked the "Plumix" up at Jet Pens. It's $7.50. That's versus what, $16.14 at Staples? And any order over $25.00 at Jet Pens has free shipping. Again, "No affiliation"

I'm certainly not suggesting people buy it from Staples Canada either - in fact I suggest they don't, as they know their prices for all Pilot products are inflated and refuse to stock them in-store. I just did a 5 second google search to find a retailer which carried new Plumixes to confirm their existence in the wild :) Happy hunting.
