Thanks. I see they do ship to the CONUS, but it's pretty confusing and I'm not sure about either the price or the exchange rate.

I guess I'll have to be content with the peacock one so kindly given to me by a fellow FPN-er.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Thanks for doing the math and the exchange rate. :notworthy1:

At that price, I have to think twice---since literally you can get two Plumix for $14.

Buy one of each color and pay $42.51 shipped; that's $8.50 per pen including shipping.

  • 1 year later...

Just bought one of these for under $7 at a Target here in New Mexico. They had the black and the turquoise blue colors.

Not bad for my second fountain pen. :D

that's funny to see a ''BIC'' version of a fountain pen but overall that thing suck and is kinda an insult to the artisans who craft the real deal. I'm sorry but objectively the Pluminix is total garbage.

I got one a while back here in Texas. A pen shop I went to yesterday has quite a few of them in different colors. I like the pen as a carry around in my backpack type thing, but I didnt expect the best quality from it for under $10.

so far, in my several Plumix's, the quality control (especially the Nibs : ) has been pretty solid.

I reuse the original carts, but now have a stubborn one that Streeetches, and twists, but steadfastly refuses to come out..so is sidelined..

The squid shaped pen body is, um, odd, but functional, no clip, for me = easily lost.

so all things considered.. 4 Plumix's will get you an upgrade in rugged body, carts/convertor to a Safari.. But, Much prefer the Plumix italic nib to the Safari italic.. just my preference.

So the Plumix is your basic, basic pen with an exceptional imho intro to smooth italic.. And, one of Pilot's features.. Nibs : ) lots of nib choices.

Which is why when opportunity arose to testdrive a higher-end Pilot sF : ) : ) : ) and one became available here : ) now, I have a Pilot with another type of nib, a sf soft fine, which enters the world of springy-flexy..

If you can get that cartridge off, put a very thin smear of grease (silicon, of course!) around the inside of the cartridge neck. That cured my cartridge stubbornness issue. :-)

Ah! Thank You! : ) since the nib is quite nice, may just cut off the stubborn twisted cart, then use your suggestion.

Since the cartridge nipple is *way* up inside the section, you can't really get to where you need to cut. Instead pull the nib and feed out and use a small dowel down through the nipple to push at the inside of the cartridge. If you were able to turn it, you should be able to push it off.

+1

I put my half dozen Plumix/Pluminix italic nibs into Penmanships, some as eyedroppers, some with converters. The Lamy is definitely the better pen - more practical and knockabout, as you say - but I too have found the Pilot italics noticeably crisper than the half dozen Lamy italics I've owned. The Lamys are good - and kudos to Lamy for catering to italic enthusiasts, because few others do - but the difference is there.

I still long for a less basic pen, though. I've half a mind to get a Lamy and grind it to my liking... or maybe if the Plumix came in a coffee-coloured aluminium finish...?

I just took a look: the B nib on one of my Pilot 78G pens is the same tip width as the <M> italic in the Plumix. Actually the same nib apart from the marking and the plating. Order yourself a 78G with a B nib and you'll have a more traditional-looking pen with the nib we love and usually with a squeeze converter included, for about the price of two Plumixes (Plumices?) from Target. If you can't find a B, the nibs and feeds are interchangeable between the 78G and Plumix/Pluminix.

Just got two of the newer Plumix version the other day, both the M nib. What's interesting is that the nib on the blue pen is a bit more forgiving than the nib on the purple one. Both are fairly decent but the purple one is slightly scratchy and takes a few more millimeters of a lead up to get started than the blue, which is good to go even if I alter the angle I'm writing at slightly. The purple one is getting better with more use, and is still a very nice pen for the price. Anyone else experienced something like this?

The Plumix and the 78G are really great pens for the money.

Is there in any comparable nibs in the Pilot line in a more substantial and larger sized pen?

Would a 742 or 743 broad give a similar writing experience?

I find my satisfaction with Pilot pens goes down proportionally as the price rises!

Strange but true.

I know a local pen store here in Houston has quite a few of them in stock. Dromgoole's is the name of the place. I never bothered to check the price. I purchased mine at a Target as well.

I took a Plumix nib and put in a Pilot Knight. Under $50 total for a nice hefty italic pen. Hard choice between it and my Lamy Safari 1.1 italic...but the Knight seems much better made...

Cheers,

NM
