Pilot Pluminix

Recommended Posts

I have a Pilot Plumix (not Pluminix) that I bought in Paris for 7 euros 2 weeks ago. It has the same general design as your pen, but is larger and is a bit fancier. The body and cap are opaque black save for the ink window, with "ripple" pattern chasing. The nibs come in a range of italic sizes from XF to BB. The pens fit a full-size international converter. The flow and nib performance are excellent. Line variation is somewhat more dramatic than the Lamy italics, but it is still not a proper formal/crisp italic. I will try to post some pictures for comparison with your pen.

Interesting, I'd like to see those.

...I think the nib is like the Pilot 78G broad, it is very smooth...

...

I've been interested in the 78G, so it would be great to find out whether the nibs are indeed very similar. As the Pluminix is a little small for me.

...

I bought a 78G (Broad) and compared the two (the 78G and the Pluminix)!

The nibs have the same shape, both italics (stub) but the Pluminix nib is finer than the 78G (Broad) nib... it says <M> on the Pluminix nib, so it's not a B = Broad, it's some sort of M = Broad!

The 78G Broad is just like a Online 0,8 Calligraphy nib, so the Pluminix nib must be finer than 0,8!?!

The Pluminix is a grat little pen, small, sweet and simple! Too bad it takes just one small cartridge! :(

Does the 78G nib write smoother than the Pluminix or the same?

They're both supersmooth, like all PILOT nibs!

The only difference is that one is B-Stub and the other is M-Stub!

There is also a BB-Stub for the 78G and the Plumix has BB, B and M-Stubs... I think there are even F-Stubs fot the Plumix out there!

The small PLUMINIX is no longer produced but can still be found HERE!

Anyone know of a US source of these pens?

Donnie

I found one today at Target for $5.99. Now I have to learn how to use an italic nib. Nr

If it weren't for pens, I might go insane. They tell me that everything is going to be alright and I believe them.

Uwaaa, can not edit reply BUT: I went to Target on a gamble and found the pen! I didn't think it was an italic until I got it out of the card and started using it. I absolutely love the shape and the grip, but it's a little weird that it has that threaded cap.

When I bought mine I thought that I was buying a standard nib but I was also surprised when I opened the package. They are not labeled as italic, only medium. I did a review here. Nr

Ooo, you got the blue one! So purdy! Mine's black. That was a nice review, you should post it here as well. Is yours a little stiff and dry-writing? I haven't quite worked out the kinks in mine yet.

This is the second time I found a fountain pen at Target. The first time was a gaudy no-name pen encrusted with fake rubies, and weighing a ton, but I couldn't let it pass by so now it's in my collection of Twilight Zone Pens. :P

PS:

Looking at the original post, and looking at the pen I bought at Target---they are slightly different. The original pen reads PlumINIX, and mine reads PluMIX. The look of the original pen is slightly fatter, and does appear more squid-like than space-ship-like.

All of which leads me to think I would like one of THOSE as well.

Woah the blue one is droolsome! So it comes in F and M stubs, among others? I'll love an F stub one to try and also to swap with my Pilot Prera, but it's not available here in Singapore. Can I get it online or would someone be able to help me get one? I have a Paypal account.

Is there an online site you can order from?

HERE! It's the ONLY place on the net I know that has the PLUMINIX, the production was discontinued years ago...

I went back to get a black one but they only had two purple ones left. I haven't had any issues with mine except trying to learn how to write with it. Glad that you liked the review. Nr

See? I remembered your handwriting.

And the link worked for me later in the day. I'd buy the pen there but I'm hopeless with international purchases (any help out there?? How much is USD? What would shipping add?)

My own Pluminix seems to prefer me writing with my right hand.

I was browsing the pen section in Target a couple weeks ago and found the Plumix as well. I got a purple one and a blue one. They had two black ones as well. It says fine on the package, but it has an italic nib on it, which is pretty cool. My first one. It's easy to write with, is pretty smooth and doesn't have skipping problems. They were $5.99 each and I'm enjoying them a lot.

I don't think these take standard international cartridges though. I tried it and it doesn't seem to work. It said it uses Pilot Ink cartridge UIC50BLU-K on the package.

Interesting--you found a Plumix at Target? What town/city/state/country?
