The life that I have Is all that I have,

And the life that I have is yours.

And the love that I have of the life

That I have is yours and yours and yours.

A peace I shall have a rest I shall have

And death will be but a pause.

For all my peace in the long green grass

Is yours and yours and yours.

They came as a boon, and a blessing to men,
The Pickwick, the Owl and the Waverley pen

Sincerely yours,

Pickwick

Thank you for both the Anne Hunter and the 魔道祖师 quotes.

The lined card on your keyboard is especially pleasing to see.

I enjoy all of your posts.

From the The Road not Taken by Robert Frost

"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference. "

Commentators have opined on the meaning, but for me it simply means to think for one's self and not blindly go through life following the well worn path of others. For me it is not so much either/or, but options based on knowledge gained from experience and communication from a wide range of associations.

I'm not sure it's that so much as of the idea of taking chances (i.e., vs. going along the same rut). It has always seemed to be more personal and introspective -- not that you're avoiding following "the herd" so much as avoiding your own pre-conceived notions of the way things should be. Or even just the idea of "Hmmm -- I always take X route home, but I wonder what would happen if I took Y route instead. Let's find out! It's an adventure!"

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Frost makes a point of saying that the two path were "really about the same" and "both equally lay / In leaves no step had trodden black." There's nothing in the poem about following or not following "the herd." The poem ends with retrospection "ages and ages hence": It's only in hindsight that one can say the chosen road "made all the difference." I'm always amazed how my choosing to do or not do something can profoundly change the entire course of my life.

Thank you for your comment above.

I've felt likewise at various junctures of my life.
