Wow - I was surprised to find out that I haven't yet participated in this thread:

So let's see:

Pilot Custom 823

Pilot VP

Danitrio RE Mikado

Danitrio RE Densho

Pelikan m800

Bexley America the Beautiful

Parker "51"

Parker 45 Flighter

Sheaffer Touchdown

Hero 100

Hero 100

Esterbrook LJ

Esterbrook J

Esterbrook SJ

Sheaffer Javelin

Kaweco Sport

So 16 is the total for the moment. I'm really pretty happy with this mix too - plenty of worry-free users and plenty of medium-high price range pens (by my standards, or course). I need to sell at least one of my more expensive pens soon because I'm running out of summer funds, but that shouldn't hurt too badly.

Don't dare to venture there. You will be assimilated. What is amazing to unknowing onlookers is how FP afficionados will sell off their good pens for mere pennies on the dollar in order to afford more 51s, once infected. I repeat, DON'T even start to get involved with 51s, stick with things that are more controllable, such as crack cocaine and the like. :ltcapd: :ltcapd: :ltcapd:

112 and counting (ask again next month) and that doesn't include BP versions of FPs, of course.

It has been a really heavy month for new pens showing up. Darned good thing they all come to the office. Go to work in the morning with an empty pen case, come home with a full one, the Powers that Be none the wiser...

You are living on borrowed time. Repent while there is still time. Otherwise, enjoy your subtrafuge while you can. When "She Who Must Be" finally discovers your charade, my Sheaffer Snorkel through the heart will tickle by comparison. Yes, stolen sweets are sweeter, and stolen FPs write smoother, but there is a final price to be paid. :roflmho:

You must understand that I don't conceal my acquisitions from her, I just spare the dear girl the mental anxiety she might suffer if she saw the march of new pens from mailbox to pen case.

Once the pens make it into the home cases, they are declared 'home free' and can then (apparently) be brought out with impunity. I keep her supplied with several pens and rotate them for her when she tires of one.

It is just the acquisition phase that would trouble her, and women, illogically, do not react to a spouse's purchases by doing the sensible thing and cutting back, they perversely go out and spend MORE money on things they don't need in retaliation, making over all matters worse. I am just protecting her from making such mistakes that she might later regret B) ........

I think that I'm in the ball park of about 150 pens, and I thought that my collection was actually quite small (in compartison with many collectors of vintage pens). In fact, I thought that one didn't begin to approach respectability until one had 300-400 pens. I always assumed that the big guys (Len, David N, George, Rob, David I, etc are the names that pop to mind as having an online presence) counted their collections on the far side of a thousand. Am I that mistaken about the size of most people's collections?

I marked the "14" but i'm sending the money order for #15 tomorrow... The Smurf blue Lamy from the MarketPlace... :)9

I can honestly say that on 20 Dec 2006, i owned ONLY 2!! The other 12-13 are NEW to me since then! :D

But i've set some $$ limits and i'm being a bit particular. I love how some of the less expensive pens write & also how they look so i'm going to be fortunate enough to get more pens for my limited $$!

Now... if i could stop wanting every purple, brown, and many of the blue inks i see & read about...

I ink, therefore I am.

Up intil the past year, I would buy any FP that looked good and was in good shape so I have a wide range of pens. I focus now on Esterbrook's.........as best I can.

Esterbrook, Waterman, Parker, Scheaffer, Wearever, Lamy, Penman, Pelikan, John Holland, Wahl, Majestic, Rotring and one Tuckersharpe.

All the above are vintage save my Lamy and one new Pelikan M200

10 pens in total for me

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

I'm sitting here at 3, but my shopping list for new pens is growing by the day, and I've begun watching the 'bay as well, so I doubt if I'll be at 3 for long...

*Just* 8...

That's 8 more than almost everybody else I know.
