A peek into the future... Sheaffer 300 line

I'm glad they brought out a fountain version, but really, why even bother if they don't come in fine point? Ugh!

The Sheaffer web page indicates the the 300 fountain pen is available in medium and fine point. Hopefully, the fine point version will be coming out soon. I'm ready to place my order.

Well the order codes only show medium, so we will contact them and figure this out!

Okay I'm back with something nice to say now. I went to a couple of retail sites, and the Sheaffer site, and I realize now how Sheaffer is trying to cover a wide range of markets with its product line-up. And I see where the 300 fits in. It's not my cup of tea, but it did remind me of an unrelated comment my son made this evening. He said he wouldn't mind having a nice ballpoint for school, and I guess the 300, at $45, would be an appropriate gift to a 14 year-old. The pen and pencil set would be an even better gift at $70. That way he could do his Math with a nice pencil too.

I no longer have either the ballpoint or the pencil of the Targa set my parents gave me when I was not much older than that. They inevitably get lost, and so it just makes sense not to spend a bundle on them. But it's a thoughtful gift and a stylish pen for a certain population, I suppose.

It doesn't look like a bad first pen to give someone, but I'd probably save a couple of bucks and get a Levenger for someone instead.
