Which pen is the easiest to change the nib of ?

The imperial portuguese is a screw-out. Shu-Jen screwed one out for me when she exchanged the medium steel nib for a steel broad at the Chicago Pen show. :) Wonderfully smooth nib.

Yes Pelikans are easy to dismantle. Parker Vectors on the other hand are extremely difficult, and I had to soak the section in hot water for hours before I could prise the feed and nib out of the section, and in the end I was all flushed and flustered from the effort. All my other pens (Indian made), are friction fit, and require varying degrees of effort to open. With some I have ended up damaging some of the fins of the feed. Wonder how I could avoid that.

Conklins and Taccias screw out? All of mine (which is a total of nine or ten) are friction-fit with #6 nibs.

 

 

I know the Conklin did and I'm almost 100% sure that it was a taccia staccato that the guy at the shop grabbed and unscrewed the nib. Reason being, I was looking at a Think, which only comes in M and he got those 2 as well as the Think and took the nibs out to see if they were interchangable. He then proceeded to pull the nib itself off of the unscrewed piece. Would that be friction-fit? They were schmidt nibs, if that makes a difference.

 

My Conklins - Nozac and Ohio - are friction-fit. Just pull them out and change the nib. Easy as the screw in's.

The Pilot Vanishing Point by far. If for no other reason than if you preload the nib and converter units, you can change nibs AND ink colors at the same time.

I guess I am like Ethernautrix in that I did not know so many options are available. My first answer would also have been Pelikan Souverains and Esterbrooks.

 

To my knowledge, most Taccia nibs are interchangeable. On early production Staccatos, there was a leakage problem which the company delt with by glueing the nib units in place. Once that issue was resolved, the nib units were no longer glued.

Just like a Pelikan you can unscrew the nib off.

Parker 75s and Pilot Capless pens are the simplest, followed closely by Pelikans, Esterbrooks, and triumph-nibbed Snorkels & Touchdowns. I think the 75 nibs are a little less trouble than the Pilots, so i vote for the 75.

I'd say that the Waterman Phileas's nib is easy to change in a way. The nib/feed won't come out easily, but it's very easy to just swap the entire section with another Phileas.

Many of the Stipula Bock nib units are also screw-in units. As are several of the Bock units from the 90's Tibaldi (for instance, that of the Impero). Best,

I just got a Reform piston filler (from Southpaw, in fact) and its feed/nib screws right out as well.

Well, I guess it really comes down to the nib mounting design. Most pens with nibs that unscrew should be equally easy. I've found that to be the case in my experience between Pelikan, Rotring Renaissance, Parker 45, and Delta.

 

My vote for the easiest has to be the VP. You can swap the nib assembly with no mess whatsoever. :)

Sheaffer Imperial CC. Feed and section can be replaced as a unit.

Sheaffer Intrigue...takes a bit, but it does work

 

Waterman Carene and Waterman C/F -- although I usually end up with an alignment issue here...and again, it is the entire feed/section that is replaced; seems to me that is within the spirit of the question.

 

Now that I think on it, most Cart fillers will interchange sections within model,
