Desert island SINGLE pen??

handlebar

A desert island would put me into a minimalist, survivalist mode. So I would go with my graphite Lamy Al-star, medium nib and a life time supply of PR American blue.

Money no object and you're all choosing pens that can be had for less than 100$?? Esterbrooks, Sailor 1911, Montblanc CHOPIN(That's like the smallest montblanc currently isn't it?)? That seems a little..Thrifty? Lol. I'd definitely go with perhaps a Pelikan Sunlight or Moonlight M1000 Raden, or maybe that beautiful Montblanc albert einstein Limited edition. Or a crazy looking fully Maki-ed Nakaya. Too many choices.

Fountain pens are like weapons. They just make your pocket bleed so much.

Parker 51! It'll never let me down!

If it's only temporary though, I would just get one of these http://www.namiki.com/limitedEditions/88thAnniversaryPen.php

That or a danitrio mikado

hehehe.

In an actual desert island situation, probably a Lamy 2k

No question for me. A Nakaya Neo Standard, medium nib (from John Mottishaw) with Iroshizuku asa-gao.

MNO pen? It would have to be the Visconti Da Vinci. I just think it's cool.

Desert Island pen?

Ivory dip-pen with gold nib. I wouldn't want any pen that might possibly break or malfunction in some way. That would be a disaster. A dip-pen never breaks down.

If stranded on a desert island, it would have to be my Parker Vector Batman fountain pen. It only cost £3.50 and I don't want the salt water knackering up any of my other pens.

which SINGLE pen would you own? Or maybe you are stranded on a desert island and could only have one pen with unlimited bottles of ink and paper, which pen.

This question is just cruel. I can't do this!! :gaah:

Oh, pens, all of you are my favorite! TWSBI, Jinhao, Montblanc, Waterman, Danish Penol De Luxe flexy pen, Cross, -- I can't choose between you! That would just be wrong.

Faber-Castelle ambition. The silver cap could double as a mirror, like the ice skate in Castaway. :)

Um, wow. Tough choice. The "money no object" part makes me lean towards my one remaining "grail" pen -- a Yard-o-Led Viceroy Victorian. But I worry about salt water and sterling silver (may I have a silvercloth bag to keep it in, please?); soooo, I would have to say:

Parker 51 Aerometric. Much as I'm excited to have *just* scored a Plum, I think I would have to go with my Midnight Blue one with the gold filled cap -- I think that would hold up better, and I'd cry a *lot* less if I dropped it in the ocean. I'd want the Plum one to be safe at home for when I got rescued....

Wow, great question!

On a desert island with unlimited bottles of ink and paper (tomoe river paper at that), I would bring my Pilot Vanishing Point with a OB nib by John Mottishaw. Sure, the converter doesn't last long, but that nib is so sweet and smooth. And, with unlimited bottles of ink.....I have to say that pen. Plus, it's functional, and when you're on a desert island you need functional. I will miss my other pens, though. And I hope they aren't hurt by my choice. :)

I have no idea how to answer the first question. I've been disappointed by expensive pens before.

If I was stuck on a desert island I'd want a boat and a GPS system. You guys can keep the pens, I'm getting off the rock and navigating back to civilization. The island is OK until you run out of ink and paper...and no women, beer, or baseball makes it a rather unappealing place to begin with.

Ball-point pens are only good for filling out forms on a plane.
