Lamy Safari needs help!

Great ! Managed to extract the feed. This is what it looks like ...

Get some black rubber - as mentioned by others here - some black rubber tubing material. Thats the black rubber on the top right. Fold the rubber over the front and back and grip the feed firmly in ONE hand, between 2 fingers. Grip tight , then using the other hand hold the body firm. bring both hands close to your sternum and pull apart along axis of pen. It should come out.

Thank you for that advice! I was trying to remove the feed to clean the pen and the amount of force needed was unbelievable. I didn't have rubber tubing, so I used several layers tissue paper. I grabbed the sides of the feed (the two rails where the "wings" of the nib curl around it) through the tissue and pulled with the pen close to the sternum as you suggested and finally had success. It's a surprisingly effective way to multiply the force you can exert parallel to the axis of the pen. Before that I tried multiple times to pull it off while holding it some distance in front of me, but the tissue kept slipping off because I couldn't get the direction of the pull oriented straight enough (and because I stupidly grabbed the feed through the top/bottom part where the nib fits, instead of the left/right side where the rails are)

I have a Vista with me and I was soaking it in water for a days next thing I know it the feed pops out quite fast... you really don't probably anything special other than gripping materials to pop it out first try was done simply trying to flick my finger to remove the nib... then I just reinserted the feed back it does come in and come out in a certain way its more clear on the Vista/Al-star than the Safari have no issues with it yet

Mass produced components come with tolerances.

To assure that the feed has a firm fit inside the grip section there are deformable ridges along the underside of the feed and on the solid section near the nib. Depending on tolerance combination these ridges get squashed more, or less during assembly. The feed as well as the grip are made from ABS. It can happen that the two components fuse together.

That's why it some come apart more easily than others.

The grip and feed were not designed to be taken apart.

In addition, dried ink makes things worse. Luke warm (baby warm, not warmer!) helps dissolve ink. I recommend not to use soapy water.

Do you have suggestions to repair feed cracks of older Safari's? Sections for earlier colors unavailable, so filling, stabilizing would seem to be the only option?

There are waterproof cyan acrylate glues (Super glue).

the suggestion taking the feed out before gluing is good,

however, if only a tiny amount is applied, with a needle or toothpick, the cracks can be fixed with the feed inside.

However, then the feed would be stuck, forever.

Try to apply the glue from the front and avoid to get any along the circumferential ridge because it forms the seal with the inner cap.

Wow, I have been trying to pull out the feed with pliers and rubber grips etc but to no success.

Something is not right.

What does the feed look like? Does the whole black thing come out , with a wick for a tail ?

I have responded to this in my previous post. but forgot to put your link in.

At the moment, I am writing my memoires as fountain pen ingeneer. Since the feed is a core component, I will write about it a lot. Would you mind if I use your photos about the Safari feed?
