Fixing mechanical pencil

Recommended Posts

Today is not my day...

Can anybody help me in repairing a Parker '51' mechanical pencil? (see thread in Parker board, for photographs of said pencil). I've come to the conclusion, with help from others, that the retractable clutch which holds the pencil-lead, is faulty. How do I fix this?

Also, I fear that my pencil is missing a key component of its mechanism. I was disassembling it today and something small and metallic shot out of it while I was pulling it apart. I didn't even see what it was, but I heard it land on the floor of my room. I'm currently trying to find it. What might it have been?

Don't Parker 51 pencils use liquid graphite? Your pencil might not be broken it might just need a different type of lead, which is unfortunatly no longer produced.

I'd rather spend my money on pens instead of shoes and handbags.

I think you must be a bad boy playing with the pencil.

to open apart the pencils full followed the steps:

Press and hold the cap, insert a pin to push the leads in all the way.( may sure you don't see the leads.)

Pull up the cap, unscrew the metal ring /black ring anti clock wise attached to the plastic barrel

Unscrew the bottom tip (metal with tone colour) of the pencil

Becareful, the is a long about 2 1/2 long spring the hold the depression operation of the pencil.

there you go, the pen is falling aparts........ BTW Why are you doing the pencil apart???????????? Bad boy.

Since you have the pencil apart, you may want to clean the inside that hold the leads with a fine "hard wire the flush the leads holding compartment. (they tents to have lots of leads bit or carbon.......that coause the pencil to jamed.) lastly oiled the parts if you are happy........

Happy penning to the pencil, sorry my bad english.. if you need the parts, do give me a Pm, I got some from FPN user here.....
