Yes the Mosaic is a black Duofold Centennial Duofold purchased from Pam Braun at around $150. A number that you would be hard pressed to touch a standard Duofold for!

Very nice. Once you've broken it in, any chance you'd review it for us? That pen is the one Parker I'm contemplating putting on my "must get" list. Love the looks and it's larger size is enticing. TIA

I took some pics of the pen. And did a real time review but after another letter or tow I will do a full blown one.

So far I am pleased although the wet medium is not what I am use to!

I've spent around $6,000 in 2005! :bonk: :o

But in fairness it has been an exceptional year because I hadn't bought ANY FPs until this year. I now have 25!

 I don't even like to think of how much I've spent on shipping and handling.

I like this, simply because I am doing the same calculation smile.gif

I averaged $31.75 per pen bought in 2005 ...

You got me this year Antonios, but not bad considering two of my pens purchased cost over $1000.

:)

Details - we want details.

I only remember that gorgeous red ripple hard rubber Relief 1.

PS> I am $32.08 today and I am afraid it will grow :)

I can't comprehend having that much to spend on a single pen.

However, I understand Brian buying a pen that much more than I can some of the four-figure pens at FPH. Brian is buying a piece of history - and his Esterbrook collectionand the information that goes with it is already a benefit to Esterbrook collectors everywhere. :)

And it will be even more so when he finishes his book on Esterbrook. ;)

So if you have a lot of ink,

You should get a Yink, I think.

Before this year, I had one, little used retractable MB Boheme FP. I now have 28 modern FPs. Here is my list by manufacturer:

Aurora - 1

Bexley - 5

Danitrio - 8

Montblanc - 1

Nettuno - 2

Omas - 3

Pelikan - 3

Sailor - 1

Taccia - 2

Waterman - 2

I also got 8 of the inexpensive Sheaffer Javelins to practice nib smoothing on.

I guess this lot puts me in the upper category.

I spent over $300, but I'm hoping to chalk that up to a first year with a strong interest in fountain pens.

My three most expensive pens are a Lamy 2000 EF, a Namiki VP M, and a 'Binderized' Pelikan 200 with an italic nib.

My cheapest pen was a $12 Pelikan that is surprisingly good.

Had no pens before April 2005, so . . . . . .

Now now Antonios, I don't ink and tell.... :D

Yes, one was that rare (did I just use that word?) Relief 1-R in MHR. There was also that jade Relief 314 from Simon, then a bunch other unusual Relief pens, constituting the majority of my spending in '05.

Yeah, I'll give you that, that's a lot of money to spend on a pen, a small stick of hard rubber or plastic, but remember, often times purchases are funded by sales of other pens, thus subsidizing the purchase. I sold off a half dozen or more pens to buy my big one in '05, and those were accumulated over a couple years time, so it had a savings account sort of effect.

Yeah, the book. "Finish" is sort of a murky word isn't it? Just when I think I've found a representative sample of Esterbrook pens, another comes along that I've never seen before that is definitely book-worthy. Since everyone's seen the standard J and B series, any book, in my opinion, really needs to have a definitive section on the early years of the company, that which is hard to find these days.

Of course, there will always be one great pen to come along the day any book goes to press. Paul Hoban once sold me a Relief he told me would have gone in his book had he had it at the time. There's always one more. :)

Yeah, ok, don't want to divert the thread here, must get back to work. :)
