Woe is I. Woe I is. I is woe.

I'm getting ready to plunk down $400 on a class. oh well. Maybe someday Sailor will put out the orange again. I don't mind that it's not a mini.

I'm upset because Taki posted minis in neato colours... and I can't read the websites... :(

I'd love to get a Mini in that great blue medium metallic-ish blue.

I guess I'll have to settle for a Prera.

Taki, does that make these Sapporos Limited Editions? If the subject of this thread is incorrect, please modify it to reflect whatever is accurate. Thanks.

My Spring White Sapporo arrived today. The color is ivory in daylight and winter white under incandescent light. The Sapporo is closer to white than my ivory Prera which is the only white pen I have for comparison.

The nib is very smooth as one would expect from a Sailor but the H-MF is a bit wide for my writing. Used more upright the line width is better for my letter forms. Writing with the nib upside down makes a very fine line that is rather pale but acceptable for notes in margins or other small tasks.

Hopefully, with the next fill a drier ink will tame it and I will be able to hold it normally. If not, I'm still fine with a pen that produces three line widths for the price of one and is a beautiful white to boot. :bunny01:

Sounds gorgeous, Margana! Very glad you got hold of one so pretty. :)

Remember that the nibs are all interchangeable throughout the entire 1911M / Sapporo / Sapporo Mini range - the nibs are identical on each model. They are a twist-and-pull nib unit - if you ever get desperate, for something finer, have a go at a trade! :)

Margana, congrats on your new Sapporo. I think they are LEs so no need to edit the title. BTW at Sailor online store they call white ones with gold furniture "Ivory". Looks very beautiful! Please consider posting a review when you get a chance :)

Now that you mention it, I'd be happy to trade for an extra fine nib should one come along. I noticed you managed to snare the same Spring White model but with a fine nib. What a smart move!

Is it possible to exchange nibs between a Sapporo and a PG?

A full-size "Pro Gear" is identified by a 21K nib. These nibs are larger and NOT interchangeable with the smaller Sapporo pens which have 14K nibs. Sailor 1911M 14K nibs are interchangeable with the Sapporo, but again, the full-size 1911 21K nibs are not.

I got mine today here in Germany within 48 hours via FedEx (arrived at home, brought to me into the hospital where I still am). It is an intense turquoise metallic blue colour plastic, very unusual, but typical Japanese pop colouring. I like it (I have a PG already), but have to ink the pen yet.

My only gripe is the plastic moulding of the barrel: it shows moulding stripes all along, hard to see through the packaging plastic sheet, but obvious when in your hands, while not catastrophic. The cap has almost none, so one can say it is "marbling".

This is a production issue Sailor seems to have with some PG and Sapporo barrels.

Don't know what to do, Melpens has nothin written in their return policy for such a production related issue. And replacement pens are obviously scarce, if available.

Received my pink Sailor Sapporo LE today--it's gorgeous. However, the Con-50 converter doesn't work with it (very loose fit)--does anyone know if there's a different converter I should try?

Fortunately, I had a few Jentle Ink Sailor cartridges on hand, which work great in the Sailor LE. Love the MF nib. Was concerned it'd be too fine, but in my estimation it writes closer to a medium line (for a Japanese pen), which is perfect for me.

Hi,

You would need a Sailor converter for it, not a Pilot converter. :)

Nice pens! I've always liked these pens, but I never got one. (Not too keen on getting one *yet*)

Is there any chance you can post a writing sample here : https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/in...showtopic=58004 ? I've got a Sapporo with M nib, and I'm planning to get a Pro Gear with a MF nib, but I would like to see how it writes :)

Thanks a lot

Thanks Phthalo! I had figured as such, but wanted to double check!

LOL! That's exactly what the seller just wrote me (he accidentally put the wrong converter in the box), so I'll be receiving the right one in a matter of days.

As to a writing sample, I'll do that. In comparison, my Morita has a broad nib, which I enjoy, but in general I prefer the MF. coco

Ok, thanks

Well, than the fine looking Sapporo is not for me, as it is even shorter than my uncapped Frontier (12.4 mm), (which is the 'comfortable' minimum for me).

One would likely never use the Mini unposted (uncapped on the back end) and there are threads to make sure it stays on. Posted, its 13.5-ish cm long. Its also the only pen I own that I would post.
