Sailor Sapporo LE - New colors!

There are a couple of eBay sellers who offer the Sapporo LE though I only found the blue and the white listed this morning.

For those uncertain about the size nibs.com states the Sailor fine-medium nib measures 0.36mm while the fine is 0.30mm. For comparison the Pilot fine is 0.35mm and the Omas and Pelikan fines are 0.40mm. Testing the line produced by a Sapporo fine against a Levenger True Writer fine in an unofficial head-to-head sample shows the Sailor Sapporo produces a line very slightly more narrow than the TW. So I would think the Sailor fine-medium is most similar to the TW fine but more narrow than my Pelikan M400 fine.

My Sapporo F has excellent flow so the line it writes is slightly wider than the nib size would indicate. It fairly glides no matter what so it tops my list of pens that are a pleasure to use. Consequently I ordered the Spring White and will sell a couple of Pilot Custom 74s that aren't seeing much time in my rotation. I know the Sapporo LE FM will get plenty of use. :D

I like the white one. It's purdy.

It's not white, though, it's kinda putty.

While the image may make it look "putty" colored, the pen is "spring white" with gold furnishings. Phthalo's Sapporo Mini is "snow white" with Rhodium furnishings. Whether or not it is a dead white or a slightly warm white will require seeing it in person. I will post an update when it arrives next week.

I just got my Sapporo L.E. in the Spring Blue in the mail this morning. Haven't inked it up yet but just know from past experience that the MF nib will be to my liking. Got it from MelPens in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

These limited edition Sapporo beauties were offered on eBay by Japan_Antique this week. Aren't the colors gorgeous!

Wasn't FredRyder looking for a pen the same color as the pink?

Just ordered my spring blue via fleabay from Melpens. Finally a pretext to buy a Sapporo, as I have a Pro Gear with a not too smooth F nib. Always wanted an MF, but they are only sold in Japan for some reason, so now I took the opportunity to get one. The Sapporo Mini has to wait again. It should have gold trim, anyway.

(Edited to correct the name to the correct Sapporo)

These limited edition

LE. D*** it!

No way I'll be able to get one any time soon and I guess it's safe to assume these are at LE prices.

Love the orange. I can get blinding pink in a Prera so that one, while nice, doesn't appeal as much. The blue is beautiful but I love the light blue one I have.

While there are true LEs such as Snow White, most colored Sapporo/Sapporo Mini are limited to certain stores, not limited by number. The stores can order more of the special colored pens if they run out.

I would consider the orange with gold trim if it comes in Mini.

These are more accurately called Special Editions - as Taki pointed out, the Snow White and Dandelion are true Limited Editions.

KCat: Not exactly... try about ~$115. :)

I've already have the white and blue ones and just got the orange one today. Still need to get a pink one for the wife.

By the way, there is also a yellow one with black tassie and end caps.

One eBay seller who offered the new Sapporo called it "Limited Edition" in the listing title while the other called it a "limited production model" in the description. Either way the colors are eye-catching.

The first pens from the Spring Collection to be offered on eBay in the U.S. sold for more than $115. The pink went for $118.11, the blue for $147.50 and the orange for $180.50. For the last few days MelPens has offered the white and the blue for $110 (plus shipping). Yahoo! Japan has them but the bidding isn't over for two days. Currently they are at 8,900 円or about $88 at the current exchange rate for delivery to Japan only.

I'm just cautioning people so they don't overspend - the term "Limited Edition" tends to do that. ;)

The retail in Japan is 10,500Y - roughly ~$105. People will pay what they deem appropriate, and eBay will naturally drive the price up... but that is the retail cost - the same price as any other Sapporo.

I am not 100% positive but I think the orange and white one with black section are SE for ACT Creator Box in Tokyu Kamata department store. They don't have a website, unfortunately.

As Laura says most of the SE's are sold at the same price as regular Sapporo, except the Morita ones and Nagasawa ones. Morita ones are actually cheaper at their store (and Ujuku, too IIRC) at 8'000 yen. Nagasawa ones (red, black, and yellow) their own design on the nib and cap ring, and are sold at 12,000 yen.

Am glad I haven't started collecting these.

My completist instinct would be driving me crazy.

Good luck to all of you.

Well, I was wrong about Ivory, Metal Blue, Orange and Pink Sapporo (not Mini). They are limited colors this spring, so when they are gone, they are gone. They were sold in various stores, and I can't find the issue number. Sailor online store had ten of blue and 13 of Ivory. They have a few of each colors left in the Sailor online store, but unfortunately they don't ship overseas. The price is the same as regular Sapporo (10,000 yen plus tax), and only MF nibs available.

EDIT:

OK, now I found more stores that have those pens. The store in the second ink below sells them for 9,000 yen. They don't ship overseas, either.

Previously I was thinking about Sapporo Mini in the same or similar colors, which are limited to ACT Creator Box.
