A Pelikan M1050 in green

I didn't know there was such a beast. Is it an M1000 with silver hardware?

It is an M1000 with a vermeil cap

Ah, that fresh ink on paper look!

That would be an M1005 which is unfortunately missing from the catalogues... :puddle:

Sheaffer OS Balance Vac filler in Brown celluloid - the days will be long until it arrives.

The pen arrived yesterday, that's the good news. The bad news is that I'm two hours away from it and won't be home until a week from Tuesday :(

Perhaps I can convince my wife to bring the pen with her when we meet at our daughter's home in Kansas City on Wednesday

I'll pack a bottle of ink to make the trip and I can give the Balance a test drive in KC. I like it when a plan comes together.

Well, the plan didn't work out, but I finally got to see/feel/fill/use the OS Balance last week and It's been in my pocket ever since. A great pen - to perfect, but I knew it wasn't when I bought it. The vac filling system and nib are marvelous. The pen was restored by Ron Zorn and he did his magic on it. For my money, the OS Balance is as close to perfect as it gets, with one exception - it could post better. But it is large enough posting isn't a necessity.

Thanks Karl and Ron.

May we live, not by our fears but by our hopes; not by our words but by our deeds; not by our disappointments but by our dreams.

No, sorry for the confusion, the M1050 was in the catalogues (from 1998, I think now it's not) the M1005 does not exists.

My mint green Estie J with 2556 nib is in transit home from California, with a shiny new sac, matching cap, and new barrel jewel. Hurry home, little pen!

Does not always write loving messages.

Does not always foot up columns correctly.

Does not always sign big checks.

I'm waiting for an old Sheaffer with a Triumph nib, part of a set with a pencil and box, which was shipped from a fellow FPNer. However, I stupidly gave him the wrong zip code in my mailing address. I just moved and my old zip code is only 1 digit off my new one. Hopefully the post office will be able to figure it out . . . :gaah:

If I type in the wrong zip in Google Maps it knows it is a mistake and shows the correct location and zip code. I just hope the post office is as smart as Google Maps!!!

It'll be a while (last one from this seller ran just about exactly two weeks) but I'm now officially waiting for a Hero 70 -- similar to the Hero 01, which in turn is similar to the Parker 180.

Does not always write loving messages.

Does not always foot up columns correctly.

Does not always sign big checks.
