What pen are you waiting for in the mail?

The good folks at Swisher Pens tell me my blue Lamy Studio is in the mail! The Studio is the pen that brought me to FPN in the first place. It is the one that I thought would be my first and only (ha ha ha) fountain pen. It ends up a shop near me only had the Safari in stock and I went with that instead. One year and 9 pens later (I'm down to three--soon to be four--at present), I'm finally getting "the one." I've been loving my 2000 for the past two months and my Safari has been neglected because it is a bit awkward. The Studio seems to be the best of both worlds.

Nakaya sent me an email yesterday telling me that my custom pen has been shipped from Japan. This is a pen based on the portable cigar done in shobu sukashi with custom artwork. I can't wait to see how the artwork turns out on the pen. I've only seen the original artist sketch based on my request.

This is my present to myself for getting a tenure track position

Congratulations! Where will you be teaching in Brooklyn? I lived for a while off Flatbush Avenue, and was just through Champaign last month.

I'll be teaching at City Tech (NYC college of technology, part of CUNY) , right by the brooklyn bridge.

The pelikan nib is here, now I'm waiting on the varuna pen for it to go into which should be on its way to me soon.

Last night I made arrangements to bring this maple Namiki rollerball to North Carolina. I have always liked wood pens, and wish I had seen this earlier as I would have liked to have one of the pencils too.

I'm waiting for a new Parker 45 I just bought off of eBay. I both it and a converter from another seller at the same time and the converter arrived today. Unfortunately no word on the pen yet. =/

*sigh* Just gone and placed the big order; A Lamy 2000 FP, fine nib, with a bottle of Noodler's Coral Sea Blue (very pretty teal/black)...

I'm going to be a while before my next order, I suspect!

I am waiting for a Parker 51 Vac, which the seller did not know if it worked or not, and has a green body with a black "end cap" with silver jewel. I didn't pay much, so I can afford to get it restored, if necessary. I am also waiting for a cheapo bookworm from China, because I like the looks of it and it was $0.99 plus $8 shipping. And thirdly, I ordered direct from the website, a Baoer from goldquills.com, as it was about the same price as the auctions from China for the same pen, once shipping was added in, and goldquills.com gives shipping at no additional cost. Besides which I have been pleased with every pen I bought from them, and I bought several over the past couple of years.

En route: a Danitrio pen designed by an artist who signs his pens "Shunpei." This was a prototype for a line which was not accepted for production. Kevin at Internet Pens (Winedoc) has been holding it on his layaway plan for me.

Anticipation is growing!

Photos & a review will appear soon.

None!! At least until I order another one...

Does not always write loving messages.

Does not always foot up columns correctly.

Does not always sign big checks.

My 2000 SHOULD be waiting for me when I get home, if Pendamonium* are on their game as usual...

*Not to be confused with Pendemonium in the USA....

First post:

6th pen.

Tried Schaeffer calligraphy pens (not counting them)--- and I got into a bad habit of shaking vigorously as the ink dried in the cartridge ** Don't do that**.

1) Plumix from Target and found myself needing ink

2) Ordered Refills from Swisher pens plus Pilot Knight

3) Ordered Noodler's Burgundy and Forest Green with Pilot 78g F and 78g M from isellpens

4) Got curious about flex and got lucky on Ebay for a Waterman's 52 (with box!) -- really nice nib and Ross from Rosspens showed me how to re-sac

5) Ebay strike #2 with a Waterman C/F black with gold cap -- Waiting on filler from Waterman service center in Janesville, Wisconsin (1-800-BEST-PEN)

---> Been flush filling the cartridge with water and using the blue ink from it (the dried out ink getting re-constituted)

6) Ebay strike #3 with a Waterman Taperite Stateleigh -- in box, gold cap, black body

--> Looks to be in good shape.

Of the purchases, it's been fast and furious and I need to slow down, but the Pilot Knight has been the most expensive.

Lamy 2000 just arrived, for a lousy 89$ from Pengallery.com.

Filled it with Lamy blue-black, hate the colour, love the pen! Off to get some PR DC super show blue tomorrow.

Can recommend pengallery, great price, swift delivery, very good packaging, no affiliation.
