Hi all. I have not bought a pen in a while, but found one yesterday I took a chance on. It looks to be a '74 to '80 MB 149 in user grade condition. I have not had a 149 in the stable (though I have the Dumas pen with the #9 nib) and I am looking forward to seeing if the 18C nib has any more flexibility.

I am hoping it will work out of the gate, and I will not have to send it in for repairs. I should know next week.

If you want less blah, blah, blah and more pictures, follow me on Instagram!

Finally ordered my first Esterbrook this morning. Really hoping i'm going to have a good experience with my first classic pen.

Here's the photo from the ebay listing.

The acrylic looks very much like one Conway Stewart used. I have a pen in it. Very nice toffee coloured.

D.ick

Also picked up another one in a different color. I thought both of these acrylics were very attractive. Once I swap nibs for a 1.1 or 1.5 stub, I'll have the writing experience I enjoy.

two firsts for me:

A few months ago, I'd never consider buying a vintage pen. Now I did.

A few months ago, I'd never consider buying a pen online without a chance to test it first. Now I did.

A Sheaffer Touchdown with .8mm stub triumph nib.

It's still in the USA...

Update

the pen has arrived in Belgium, should be here any day now. Feels a lot like waiting for santa.

The bad thing is, i think i might be getting addicted to it already and it hasn't even been shipped yet. I've been researching prices and styles of the Esterbrooks all day now.

Had a bad week last week.

So there's an unpolished shu Nakaya Naka-ai writer with a 0.8 mm smooth cursive italic nib on it's way from CFP.

Also pre-ordered a Sailor Koshu Inden with the Petite Cherry Blossoms pattern with a 0.9 mm smooth cursive italic nib.

Enjoying my Naka-ai. Decided that I wanted something a bit finer and sharper so have revised the nib on the Sailor Koshu Inden to a 0.7 mm cursive italic. Just got a notification today that it is on its way. Yay!

I do so understand. I am still up flushing some pens, and making decisions on pen use for tomorrow; as well as doing a bit of research on the Noodler's Konrad Acrylic. Like crazy ;)

My friend was kind enough to buy me three third tier vintage pens. I thought it was for her when we were looking at a local forum's pen marketplace, but she said she was giving them to me as a gift. :) They're an Ottawa syringe filler, a Champion syringe filler and a Monitor lever-filler. (photo cropped from the seller's ad)
