Spent sunday afternoon reading all comments on Pilot 78G and ordered a fine and a broad. Just to see what you are all talking about! Besides i have decided from now on, i am a Pilot-Asian pens girl. On my rounds on eBay i also found a Pilot "bent nib" pen that should be interesting to use.

The pen takes both the international cartridge and the piston. It is working well, but I notice there is a certain angle that I hold it in that makes it skip? Another FPN member recommended that I should flush it with water and a drop of soap and I did that and it still skips, not sure why?

Amazing looking pen! What sort of filling system does it use? I can't tell if the end is a blind cap, or it uses cartridges?

Really cool! Glad it's working so well for you!

OH! I'm so happy that you received your pen yesterday! It's simply beautiful! Stuck in customs *gulp* It's enough to make me want to buy American! lol Or at least global pens sold at local brick and mortars :) Whew! glad you got it

Aaand it just arrived. Every bit as beautiful as the picture. It's about the size of the Pelikan M200.

Unless the angle causing is the skipping is the one you're comfortable using.. just avoid it? The "Iridium Point Germany" nibs are often cheap ones that come in pen-making kits. The one I have (a Chinese one) is awful, and I also could not remove it to exchange it with a better nib. Hopefully, yours was actually made in Germany, though by the imprint of a flower on the nib in your photos, I'm willing to bet it's a Chinese nib*. This article might be of help to you in regards to your nib, both information about the "Iridium Point Germany," and tips for fine-tuning the nib to get it flowing properly: http://edisonpen.com/page.cfm/IPGnibs2 This one as well for more general information: http://www.richardspens.com/?page=ref/ttp/ipg_nibs.htm

*Disclaimer: I'm not bashing on Chinese pens, by the way. I have a couple that write beautifully. Just the Chinese-made IPG nibs seem to be mostly awful with a peppering of adequate nibs strewn in. You might be able to tune your nib to get it properly working.

(Teahive, RE: Custom Pen which arrived last week: It is a Chinese nib, :( I read the other day also that the flower on the nib means it is from China, I will take a look at the link you posted, thank you for that!)

NOW!!!

My Pelikan JUST arrived in the mail just RIGHT NOW!! At 10:30pm!! I was eagerly awaiting it and the online tracking number said that I would have it in my hands today, but strangely the post people in my neighborhood have been working, arriving at all hours of the night? So i've just now got it and am so excited! Haven't opened it yet or dipped it, and it has never been used and is in pristine condition. The presentation/gift box that it arrived in smells like it's been in a temperature controlled warehouse. It is a beautiful pressentation case complete with unopened pelikan blue ink. THIS nib is a 14 ct. gold nib that says Pelikan. aaahhh, authenticity... Yea!post-108733-0-31808100-1410241896.jpgpost-108733-0-83039900-1410241882.jpgpost-108733-0-28095600-1410241871.jpg

Beautiful Pelikan! Have fun with it!

I gave in and used up the last of my pen funds on a vintage flex pen, a Cadet BCHR. I was looking for a Wahl, but someone sniped it from me, so I found this cheaper option that I could buy outright as a mourning gift to myself, hahaha.

That Pelikan is gorgeous!

After receiving my Pendleton Point TWSBI 580 AL, I got bitten by the TWSBI bug apparently. Upon placing an ink order with Goulet, the TWSBI Vac 700 in Orange (my favorite color) seems to have jumped into the shopping cart as well :D

But I can justify it! I've always wanted an orange pen, and I do travel a lot so a pen that seals tight is practical, right?

My newest Sailor arrived yesterday. Very happy with it. Was wondering if the pen color would be a more primary yellow or lighter and it turns out to be more primary, which is what I had hoped for. And with this my new pen buying is done for awhile. I'm looking at getting an Esterbrook eventually though. I'm patiently waiting for the right one to be found. :D

Just picked up a Danitrio Grand Trio Totetsu. After not having any Japanese pens I now have two in the matter of a few weeks. The other is a Danitrio with urushi in a tamenuri finish and this is my first maki-e pen. I stole this picture from Bryant's website (www.chatterleyluxuries.com) until the pen arrives and I can take my own pictures.

I'm waiting for a couple of Hero 329's ^_^ I ordered two so I can rip one apart and keep the other intact.

I definitely have to try out what it's like to write with a hooded nib.

I'm going to be getting this one soon. I believe this is a Sheaffer 400, and the tuckaway or military clip? I got this last second, and beat a sniper on eBay. The thing about snipers is that there is a commitment time when you can't change anything. I came in at 15 seconds and hit my bid a mere dime above the sniper. I was there first, so the pen comes to me. Looking forward to trying it out.

Gama Kuyil from ASA Pens. I am hoping my JinHao section fits in the threads, like the one somebody on here posted recently. I have generally not had good success with eyedroppers, so a C/C intrigues me, but those are all out of stock at ASA(the triple fillers -- Cart/Convert/Eydrop) so I thought to try and fit a Jin Hao section to one.

Waiting for a red Parker 45 I won on the bay. Finally found (and won) the color and nib and trim I wanted. It may need some work, but I'm okay with that.

Also still waiting for my pink Prera, coming from Japan. I am hoping I like it as much as my other Pilots. Although it might be BAD if I like it as much as the other ones, considering it comes in many colors in the US, and even more colors in Japan...

And a white Nemosine Fission, to try out the metal version of this pen.

As a result of many posts in the past week, I've ended up buying a pen that I used to hate. Thanks!

Tom.
