What pen are you waiting for in the mail?

I'm brand new here, and just ordered my first two fountain pens - a Pilot matte black vanishing point and a Lamy Safari (white with a red clip). I'm very excited to get them both!

I do hope you will be pleased with them, and do let us know how you get on with them.

MY pen ARRIVED!!!!!! WOO HOO! I had been feeling it all day long. Listening for trucks pulling up, keeping the volume inside low... and then about 8pm my doorbell rang and I flew off the couch and right to the door where the Oh so Pretty PostMan held my new custom made pen! It is custom made by an Israeli Engineer and I love the unique closed end style that is meant to be written with cap free. The German #6 medium 24 ct. gold with iridium tip is beautiful and smooth! All my other nibs up to this point have been silver, so this is my first gold/iridium combo. I like it! It came with a generic blue ink already set, so I cannot wait for it to be done so that I can use one of my own.

It's a rather cheap pen you can trust ..... I should have one somewhere. Who doesn't ?

I await a pen i ordered for someone else. Yes, thats right, i have made someone else see the light :) (or ink maybe)

This guy tried and loved my Lamy Safari with a 1.1 stub and asked me to fix him one, so i did.

For myself i have a vintage pen incoming. It might be junk (probably) and it might be good (not likely), i´ll know when it gets here. Meanwhile i enjoy the waiting, and when it arrives i´ll enjoy tinkering with it even if the pen is nothing special.

One obvious weakness in my little FP collection is that not a single one of them can wind a cassette. 😜

Congratulations! What truly amazes me, though, is that you have a postman who delivers at 8pm...wow...

Actually, they do here in the Netherlands as well, especially residential areas, so the people are actually at home....

Thank you!

I purchased the Pilot VP as a gift to myself for a job promotion and new office. I received it yesterday, along with a bottle of Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku (peacock blue).

While I have nothing to compare them to, I have to say I am already in love with my new pen and the ink. :)

I'll bet that the Ku-Jaku flowing out of the Black VP looks stunning!

Any chance of a photo or two?

"WOW! :yikes: That is one beautiful pen. Congratulations!"

-Thank you! I stayed up until 3 am in the morning writing with it, I journaled, continued a fiction piece, it was great! It's the heaviest pen i've ever owned at 1.55 ozs but it isn't "too heavy" like some others i've held and not purchased.

"Woaw, what a pen !!!!!! It really is splendid !!!!!! A real eye catcher .....

-I got it on Etsy, and the vendor's name is ZmanCustomPens from Ramat gan, Israel. The cost was amazing at $90 s&h included. My only caveat (my fault for not asking this question before purchasing...) is that the high quality nib it comes with is on there permanently, it is not interchangeable. Having said that, it is an amazing pen and nib and writes so very smoothly!

"Congratulations! What truly amazes me, though, is that you have a postman who delivers at 8pm...wow..."

-The post system here is soooooo strange... I can get mail during the evening, 7pm, and then have the postman deliver at 8pm? I don't pretend to understand how that is, incredibly, that I can get mail twice in one day hours apart?? and neither does the post service because when I ask, they say it is only delivered once.. yet mysteriously.. I get it twice daily sometimes.. it's a mystery.

Finally got my Matte Black Pilot VP with Binderized "EF" in the mail today... boy does it lay down a fine line! I had heard it was a fine line but I'm still surprised at how thin it actually is.

A quick sample compared to the other pens in my collection:

Just got in a Lamy Al-Star blue green with fine nib. Matched it with a bottle of Montblanc Irish Green that I just received as well. I think I really like it!

Also just bought two Jinhao stainless steel X750's off the bay. One for me, one for a buddy.

Currently waiting for a Pendleton Brown TWSBI 580 Aluminum Version with the signature Pendleton Brown Butter-line Stub-italic ground nib in Medium! Super excited as this is my first professionally tuned nib!

According to the tracking information, the pen should have been delivered today... but it's 5:30 pm, the mail has been delivered, and no pen :o
