Today is slated to be a Pilot Christmas in September. I'm expecting a Decimo in Peal White and a Custom 74 both in F.

I was perusing a site where craftspeople make and sell their own items and I came across an engineer from Israel who makes his own fountain pens with a unique closed end design that I have never seen before. The body and the cap are hand turned and colored a sea green and turquoise. I have not seen a FP whose colors call to me as much as this one. It is a stunning shade. The body of the pen itself is made of Corian shined to a high luster and comes with a #6 German gold plated Iridium point medium nib. Before purchasing the pen which was not cheap, I asked the seller/engineer for a writing sample and it looked smooth with no skipping. I am SUPER anxiously awaiting it and agree with a fellow earlier poster who said that when waiting on a fantastic pen one realized how terribly insufficient package tracking is! Mine has been sitting somewhere in the dreaded ISC NY USPS and I hope that I have it by the end of this week so that I can take it on vacation with me the week after! *fingers crossed* *fingers crossed* *fingers crossed*

I only have cheap plastic dip bodies as well, but I'm looking for wooden ones. As for nibs, try ones made by Brause! I only have four, but I love them! And of course any flexible dip pens are always fun.

I'll have to take a look at those. Thanks for the lead!

A Montegrappa Memoria fine nib by the end of the week and 2 LE Edison Glenmonts. These are the limited edition 2014 special run. One is a fine nib and is in Pearlized Wine Acrylic and the other is Ebonite. Final day to order is Sept. 5. They are to ship in 2-3 months according to Brian.

My Kaweco Skylines arrived today!! For being a user of extra fine and fine nibs normally, I'm surprised to find myself infatuated with the double bold nib on my Mint Skyline, which I promptly filled with Diamine Soft Mint ink.

May I suggest taking a look at the dip pens from Steve Engen? (I believe it was one of his that was pictured) The are beautiful, certainly have more heft than plastic holders, and are one of the remarkable value points in the pen world (i.e. they don't cost a lot). I've got a couple for occasional use, and they are a true pleasure just to hold and admire. Here's another in Turquoise Tru-Stone, Ebony, and Bloodwood:

I'm brand new here, and just ordered my first two fountain pens - a Pilot matte black vanishing point and a Lamy Safari (white with a red clip). I'm very excited to get them both!

I have a few things I'm waiting to get to me (that darned US-Canada shipping!) but after that I'm on a no-buy for September and it's KILLING ME. Three days in. Uh oh. Going to live vicariously through this thread, I guess...

That's an awesome choice of your first two pens! Well done and enjoy :)

PS: the swappable nibs on the Safari are basically the best thing. Order a bunch and go crazy with different widths!
