Waiting on a couple of buys. First is a cheap little vintage number I figured I'd take a shot on from fleabay. The second is a Sailor 1911 demo with a music nib which I'm super stoked for :)

I just purchased a Jinhao 159 and can't wait to give it a go.

You will love it. Mine writes much better than my Montblanc 149.

If that's true, I can say for certain there's something wrong with your 149!

Parker Vector Looney Tunes Taz and a converter for it. It's for a friend -- although if I like it when I see it, I may turn around and order one for me as well.... (I'm firmly of the opinion that she *needs* a pen that has the Tazmanian Devil on it....)

Truthfully, I also want to get her collection started again -- she and her housemate lost everything in a fire a year and a half ago (including nearly all their cats). Now I have to figure out what to get Linda, since I don't think she's really a pen person....

Alright! Finally ordered my Lamy Neon Coral in medium, the Wing Sung 237 in orange, and I splurged on a Kaweco Skyline Grey in medium as well as a Kaweco Skyline Mint in.. double bold!!! Being one who normally uses extra-fine, this is really branching out. My angsting has turned to impatient waiting. It's only been about an hour since I put the orders in. *sigh*

Ok, you are officially a bad influence. That Wing Sung 237 is a gorgeous pen! I looked at a Lamy Neon Coral gift set this weekend and almost bought it; now, I'm tempted to go back and get it. Bad influence, I tell you... bad influence, the lot of you.

 :D

Welp, I just went ahead and bought another Parker Challenger in red and black, as replacing a nib for my black one would have cost about the same. At least the shop is located a couple towns over, so it should be here quick.

While placing an order on Amazon, I got amazingly sidetracked and spent just about a whole hour surfing through all the Jinhaos. I finally settled on a pair of 301's in blue and black, fine and medium. Now I just have to be patient because in order to keep them cheap I chose standard shipping so they won't arrive till late September. -_- (that's what I get for impulse buying.)

The praise of the praiseworthy is above all rewards.

I should be getting my Safaris today. The problem? I also have a bunch of donations on the porch being picked up, and I'm working at least nine hours today. I hope the charity doesn't accidentally take my pens!

My Pilot Metropolitan arrived today. My first real time spent with a fountain pen. I used the cartridge because the ink I want to try is in another order that hasn't arrived. First impression: My hand got tired quickly. I was writing with it posted, so I removed the cap and it was obviously lighter and still easy to use. Had a tendency to not start on letters beginning with down strokes (I'm a lefty overwriter, so the nib was essentially being pushed diagonally). This wasn't consistent, though, and seemed to get a little better as I used the pen more. I suspect part of both the tiredness and problems starting were also due to poor form on my part, so learning good technique may help. I was also writing in cursive for the first time I can remember in about 25 years. Maybe too many variables all at once. :) But I did print in all caps some (my usual writing style) and the pen hated that. I also wrote with the pen upside down and it worked, though only for a few words before the ink stopped flowing. Which is a shame because the line was very nice and fine until the ink got thin. It's a medium nib, and I assume the ink provided is Pilot Black. I was writing in a Moleskine and it bled through pretty badly. But I was writing slowly which might have contributed.

Anyway, lots of jumbled thoughts there. Not a discouraging first half hour with the pen, but I am looking forward to getting the blacks I've ordered and trying some different papers.

Sailor Pro Gear M/F will arrive Friday, and I should get my Lamy Safari (with both F and M nibs) either tomorrow or Friday. The adventure begins! :D

Edited to add: I received the Pilot from Goulet and they wrote a nice note on the invoice and even noted the name of the ink they were writing in. That kind of touch, though very simple, is the kind of thing that will keep me coming back.
