What pen are you waiting for in the mail?

While waiting for a lovely YongSheng 016 silver wintersweet, I "accidentally" bid on some vintage pens on ebay. That lot of 4 pens in need of restoration will arrive well before the Chinese pen, which is apparently taking the slow boat.

The "vintage" pens are a mystery. One is lapis lazuli colored, another is a combo pencil/fountain pen in an amethyst color, the third is beige and the last one looks like a partial desk pen with a white handle and a silver nib holder. I am hopeful the helpful pen lovers here will help me sort things out once they arrive.

Ebay is rightfully dubbed "Evil-bay". I really don't need another hobby. ;-) ;) Pen restoration here I come!

My pens arrived a while ago, but I am just now getting around to posting pictures. I have learned much from the purchase; terrible pictures on Ebay will result in surprises when the actual item arrives.

Blue pen is an Onward that is sparkly and blue and pitted, also has a broken tine on the nib.

Purple/amethyst pen is actually a burgundy Welsharp combo pen and is the best of the lot although the nib needs some smoothing. It tends to catch on paper and pull fibers off. I had fun replacing the sac though.

The beige pen is a Penman syringe type, and I now have a sorry tale of ruining a pen while trying to disassemble it for cleaning an restoration.

The last is a mother of pearl taper nib holder. The gold finish polished up nicely, but I had no nibs for it until I went to the Triangle Pen show back and scored some lovely off-set #4 nibs.

I'm a little embarrassed of how crazy I went the other day, but here's what's in the mail for me:

Parker 51

Noodler's Nib Creaper (clear; love my lapis inferno one but wanted a clear one too)

Jinhao X750 Shimmering Sands

Pilot Metropolitan Silver Plain, F nib (I have two Ms but want a finer nib. May give one of the Ms to one of my sisters!)

Lamy Al-Star Blue-Green, EF nib

Platinum 3776 Century Nice, F nib

Two on the way this week. Finally taking the plunge on the Lamy 2000 (fine) and the Pilot Vanishing Point (matte black, also fine). I feel like I'm really "part of the club" now that I've got these two classic stalwarts in my collection.

Oh, and some Tomoe River paper, too - my first.

Funnily enough I was looking at those the other day. Those nibs are a bit scary aren't they! :-)

Just a plain ol' glass pen I found on eBay, with a muted violet kind of color. I'm more excited by the fact that I'm finally getting a glass dip pen with a long handle. I have a Rubinato one already, but it's quite short and not good for long journaling sessions.

Eagerly (impatiently LOL) waiting for a Visconti Venus (rose coloured, with a medium Dreamtouch nib) to arrive. I haven't tried their Dreamtouch nibs before, so I'm very excited! :) I had hoped it would arrive today, but alas, no postman has arrived. Maybe Monday will be the day :)

Sigh.

Kaweco AL Sport in anodized silver with a fine nib.

Goulet dropped the price on them again, so I bit.
