What pen are you waiting for in the mail?

Enrico,

Won the lotto, huh?!??

Cheers! :D

-Clive

Not really.

If you factor out the 149 and the 100 (my oldest pens), the other are "not so expensive"...

Had I win the Lotto, they would be something more expensive (that is why the wishlist exists).

Thanks God I decided long ago to stay far away from LEs, "for principle reasons".

Hi Enrico,

I was just giving you a hard time... :bunny01: You've already got some beautiful fountain pens, that's for sure! Your decision to stay far away from LEs is a wise one, but what do you want to bet that some day - hopefully in the not too distant future - both of our logic systems will fall by the wayside (from old age/senility) and we'll be proud owners of multiple LEs!!!

Wishing you nothing but great success in your quest for superlative writing instruments.

Very Best Regards,

-Clive

Thanks Clive, I forgot to put the smiley.

No hard time at all.

I like to say my own LE collection is the one in the avatar photo, and they are going to cost me far more than any FPs...

:cloud9:

Ciao - Enrico

Daddy, please no more pens - we need food, clothes, books, DENTISTRY...

You're most welcome, Enrico!

That's an exquisite LE in your avatar, one to not only be so very thankful for, but very proud of - which I'm certain you are both!

Yeah ... the cost of maintenance for the LE depicted in your avatar will certainly far exceed that of virtually all fountain pen LE's combined! :o On the other hand, some things in life are more than worth the expense ... your wonderful family being premiere among them.

Take care,

many thanks, clive, and congrats as well on finally getting your M800. i'm sure that it'll serve you well and long.

Not just one but (count 'em) 18 pens, two months' worth of trawling on ebay, which my sister, who took this photo, is shipping to me here in manila from virginia. five of them i'd sent to danny fudge for repairs, so there are 13 new ones in the bunch, almost all of them parkers save for one 78G with a BB stub nib from speerbob.

i got the parker 51 SE in a trade; the four esterbrook nibs were a bonus thrown in by the seller of the silver-pearl vac standard (with the now-infamous ;) two-star nib); the arrow, the two 51s, and the black duofold jr. on the left next to the oversize green vac were my $68 lot. the chain with the (unexpected) pocket knife is for a pocket waltham.

so this is a pretty special bunch for me, and as everyone on this thread must surely feel, i can't wait!

;)

Penmanila,

What an outstanding HAUL you made! Just inking all those pens will take an hour or more. In all seriousness, I am very happy for you - and wish you nothing but the very best with your new treasure of fountain pens. It's a pleasure just to look at them, the truth be told -- so I'll continue doing just that for a wee bit longer... :puddle:

BTW - Thanks to your gracious advice, I ordered a new Pelikan M800 from Pam Braun and received it in the mail this past Friday. I shipped its nib off yesterday to Richard Binder to have it reground into a 0.9mm Cursive Italic. I'll let you know how it all went once it arrives back here at home (it'll be a long wait -- 14 weeks minimum!). Thanks once again for helping me. And you thought I was beyond help! :D

Congratulations on acquiring such a glorious quiver of new FPs, Penmanila. You deserve 'em!

Very Best Regards,

-Clive

I spent my birthday money on a black Carbonesque Vanishing Point with an Italifine nib from Richard Binder. Should be here sometime this week (maybe even tomorrow)! I already know I love the VP, but I'm very anxious to play with the custom nib. Including the additional price of the nib, this is now the most expensive pen I've purchased. I had a tough time deciding between the black Carbonesque and the blue. I finally decided on black because I have more black inks than I do blue and I'm developing a compulsion (yes, I can admit it) to match body color to ink. I also have a VP mechanical pencil on the way. I'm not much of a pencil user, but when I found out these existed and that they were relatively cheap, I had to have one. It should be here any day as well.

An oversized Black Sheaffer Balance, lever-filler that I won on eBay. Very surprising win, I kept expecting to be out-bid, or at least have my bid bumped up quite a bit, but it didn't happen. Same seller had another very similar OS black Balance that went for what I consider to be a reasonable amount, but this one ended at $16.50, very strange as quite a number of people had viewed it, plus four people had bid before me. From my watching of eBay lately I have noticed that prices are, at times recently, very erratic.

I put a low, but far more reasonable bid in 20 minutes or so before the end, kept expecting it to be grabbed by someone else in the last few minutes or seconds. My computer crashed and by the time I got back on it was all over. (The crash kept me from bidding on a pen I was also watching. May be everyone else had the same problem on the Sheaffer.

I just ordered a white Capless Decimo. It'll be here in a week or so.

This is only the second pen I've bought (the other two pens that I own were gifts), and it's about $100 more than the Phileas I bought.

I'm very excited, though; I was supposed to wait until my birthday (in April) to get the pen, but after three days of waiting I got impatient and just ordered it. Ah, well, that's what Christmas money is for, eh?

Pelikan M800 Demonstrator WITH Etchings - so very cool.

While waiting on the Pelikan I found a deal on a Sailor 1911 Demonstrator with a Zoom nib that should also be here this week.

And some more ink, and another journal, and...

Djpyle,

You spent your birthday money wisely! HAPPY BIRTHDAY and :W2FPN: . . . !

Looking back, I wish I'd purchased a Pilot Black Carbonesque VP instead of the White Pearl Decimo I bought (from Japan) a couple of years ago. At least I had enough sense to order a Binderized 18-karat Decimo nib for it afterwards (which made all the difference in the world, writing-wise). The Black Carbonesque simply looks a lot better IMHO. What could I have possibly been thinking?!?? :bonk:

Please let us know how you like your ItaliFine nib from Richard Binder. I just sent him a Pelikan M800 Broad nib for regrinding to a 0.9mm Cursive Italic, so it looks like we'll both be enjoying a couple of silky-smooth writers shortly!

Congratulations on your VP purchase...you're going to LOVE that new pen!!!

Susibilia,

When it comes to buying fountain pens ... never put off spending money 'till tomorrow when you can vaporize it today!!!

Okay . . . seriously, you hit the nail on the head: that IS what Christmas money is for. Furthermore, it's quite apparent you've made an informed decision (as you've so clearly demonstrated :D ) by wisely electing to purchase an outstanding fountain pen -- one that will continue to provide you with a rewarding experience, each and every time you use it ... and for many years to come, no less!

At some point, you may wish to contact your nibmeister-of-choice and order a customized nib (or have your current nib re-ground). You can read more about customized nibs here .

I wish you the very best of luck with your new VP.

Cheers!

I just won a Pelikan 200 on Ebay. Looking forward to my first piston filler. So far, I have lots of twist and aerometric (aeromatic? anaerobic?) fillers, but I really wanted to get my first Pelikan. The auction went down to the last minute with 3 of us scrambling in the last few minutes. If you lost to me, apologies.

Just a pen part. Picked up a .6 'Binder' stub off a member here for a VP at a great price. Should have it tomorrow.

Waiting for a teal Parker 51 aero, with XF nib and a red Pilot VP with a medium nib. They should both be here before the weekend, I hope.

Today I got terrible news.

The M800: this evening the seller called me to say that the shipping firm cannot find my address. What? 100+ items received by mail and those guys are not able to find my address?? Never heard of google maps?

The M420: this morning the german seller wrote me that the pen came back because of an error (a generic error, made by the seller... cheasy!)

So, bad bad bad day.

Last time I posted here my pens arrived in a short time, so I'll try again this scaramantic thing.

I am currently waiting for three pens:

- a Sheaffer Triumph acquired here B)

- a Pelikan M420 which was purchased on ebay two weeks ago and that starts to get me nervous

- a Pelikan M800 Old Style that was a great deal on ebay, but happened only end of last week so it will be some time before it's here I guess... :cloud9:

Now, hopefully tomorrow something will happen...

Two pens - potentially lost in the mail between the UK and the US

A Pilot Prera mailed over 4 weeks ago and a lovely broad nibbed mint P51 mailed on Jan 20. :crybaby: I hold out very little hope. I don't know why the Royal Mail and/or US Customs doesn't like me.
