What pen are you waiting for in the mail?

The strong Euro lessens the pain somewhat. The Belmont with steel nib is 160, grind 40, so 200 for the pen plus 35 shipping.

Orderamount is just under the threshold, so no import duties, just 13,- euros USPS handing fee and dutch VAT (21%).

So, total get-the-pen-from-richard-to-me costs are around 220,- euros... could be worse....

If you use the right credit card that doesn't load the exchange rate then that makes it better too.

Get thee behind me Satan! You'll have me buying another one in a minute

After I recently had the chance to test the Pilot Prera of a friend, I am now waiting for a yellow one in M and an Ivory one in F.

Actually just wanted to get one in F, but my friend's M wrote nearly as thin as my Lamy with the EF nib so I figured I would get a M too... also beccause it was hard to decide on a color. Only knew I didn't want one in white like my friend.

1930's Morrison gold filled,

Large green Wearever

Osmiroid 65

Just received a Reform 645 w/ fine gold nib and a very nice amount of flex! NOS from the early 40's. A bit of smoothing and it writes very nicely thank you!

Black inks can be exciting! I'm sorry there was an issue. Yes, contact them, if it persists. Hopefully, the disassembly and cleaning remedied the problem. Keep us posted.

Here's the long overdue follow-up. I contacted them and they sent me instructions on improving flow. It didn't help, so they sent me a new feed almost straight away. Meanwhile, I got pretty frustrated having the pen just sitting there, so I grit my teeth (pulling out the nib and feed required a lot of force, scary) and pulled the nib and feed out, soaking the feed in lukewarm water with dish soap and scrubbing it with a toothbrush. It helped, the pen now writes nicely. After filling it, it gushes terribly though, unless I don't completely fill it and turn it upside down to suck the excess ink from the feed with the piston. The pen does seem to run a little dry after a page or so of constant writing, making the ink a little lighter, but nothing bothersome. I might switch the feed I received after my exams, to see if it makes a difference, but for now, I'm okay with it. I have been using it a lot, it's a workhorse with a robust feel to it. It gave me a lot of frustration, but it worked out in the end.

Not sure I'd go for another TWSBI anytime soon, but I must say they handled it very nicely.

Today arrives my excellent Parker 61 MKII Flighter set. I'm really looking forward to this one. I'm not much of a Parker collector, but there are some vintage Parkers I find too hard to resist.

I'm waiting for part one of my platonic ideal Frankenpen -- a Lamy Al-Star with gold nib. It's going to be as expensive as buying a Lamy Studio Palladium, but a) it's spread out into manageable bits, and B) I love, love, love the bluegreen model.

So I've bought a stand-alone Lamy M gold nib. I will then get a body for it, and then send to Pendleton Brown for custom grinding and reduction of nib size to an F.

In early June, I bid $2.01 on as many Jinhao 599 as I could find on Ebay, free shipping. About 40 pens, I think.

I hoped that some of the Ebay members would overlook one of them. I ended up getting three. $1.80; $1.68; and $2.01 .

This project "junked-up" my email inbox, but it was fun.

In Belgium, add 30 euros customs administration costs. That's the one that frustrates me most!

I'm waiting for a Reform 1745 and an "Edel" flex steel nib pen from 1935.

I have one of the Edel flex pens. Piston filler, Ebonite feed, thermoplastic body. Great little pen and fabulous nib.
