What looks like a Sheffer PFM-II in burgundy, curtesy of ebay. At least I think it's a PFM-II in burgundy, I don't know any other pens with the crazy integral nib, the steel cap, and the burgundy body. The seller didn't know what it was beyond "Vintage sheffer USA pen", and apparently I got pretty lucky because I didn't pay more than £20 for it :)

I saw it and I fell in love, I was terrified as I watched the last few seconds tick down that someone else would stumble across it and take it above my student price range.

I just ordered a Pelikan M605 Marine Blue special edition from Fountain Pen Hospital. My most expensive pen purchase to date but the price was to good to pass up.Kind of a pricey replacement for my recently lost red M205.

Waiting for just part of a pen actually. My Conway Stewart Belliver Borealis cap, sent back to Plymouth England to have the sprung clip repaired. Though it's only been a few weeks, it seems an eternity...

A Pelikan Souveran M400 Brown Tortoise! It's the long discontinued model with the two gold trim rings on the endcap. According to Regina Martini, it has the same coloration as the first edition M800 Brown Tortoise. It's shipping internationally and I really hope it gets here safely. My first Pelikan! I've wanted one from the very beginning of my fountain pen days and it's finally happening!

Best of luck with the Ahab. I had bad luck with two in a row and moved on, but I sincerely hope yours work out better, and I would be very interested to hear how they do. I wonder if part of my problem was using Nooders ink. It's Watermans or Diamine for me from now on.

I've been using the Ahab for a few days and it's a pretty good pen, it seems to write with a nice, wet, fluid line with plenty of line variation. I haven't noticed any skips. The flex nib, maybe not the smoothest nib in my collection, is good to work with. I've tried two Noodler's inks, the Empire Red and Ganges Blue. Both are gorgeous colours. After reading some differing reviews of Noodler's inks, I was eager to try them, and so far I'm not disappointed. I'll certainly be experimenting with other Noodler's ink in the future.

Regards,

Kevin
