A few days ago I scored a rootbeer Estie on E-Bay for $5.95. True story. I was the sole bidder. It arrived yesterday. I have never purchased a 40's-50's era pen that was closer to as-new cosmetically than this one. I cleaned it overnight and will ink it later today using a NOS 9668 medium nib. Now I am waiting for two Esterbrook nibs, a flexible medium and a broad firm to see if I like 'em.

My wallet appreciates your sentiments. It has my sympathies too! I was actually at an antique store (friend of mine) this weekend reviewing a collection and I was about to make a deal on. 7 MBs (various more common ones) and a Cartier Roadster. Unfortunately only 2 fps. After reviewing I was going to go home to pick something up then come back with inks and some paperwork to show him what he had so we could work out a more reasonable deal. I wrecked my car right in front of his shop. Won't know until Thursday if it's repairable or totaled. That nixed the deal for me, didn't want to spend a big amount on a collection where I only needed a couple of pens if I'm going to have to buy a new car. I did however go back and pick up the Roadster and a nice Dunhill silver lighter.
