My brown Parker Vacumatic with a flexible nib. I think it is going to go right off to OldGriz as soon as it comes in though. It needs a bit of freshening up. But I am very excited about it. One of my first vintage pens. I am not sure how flexy the nib is but we shall see. It was advertised as flexible though.

 It's for Yew!bastardchildlil.jpg

1 - Sheaffer Agio, Tranquil Yellow

1 - Sheaffer described as "White Dot Silvertone Fountain Pen"

but I suspect it's really a Sheaffer 444-0 (Triumph Imperial brushed chrome)

1 - Lot of 6 that contains a Waterman Phileas which made the whole purchase worthwhile.

1. TWSBI 540, should hopefully arrive this week

2. German piston filler "Clipper"

3. Pelikan MK20

Now I'm in doubt whether or not to shell out 65 euros, $85, for a NOS Rotring 700 ballpen/fountain pen set...

Sheaffer green striped pencil, to go together with a FP.

I'm trying hard not to buy anything else...

Sailor Professional Gear Slim (black/rhodium) and three Pilot 78Gs.

These are likely going to be my last pens for a while, so I'm looking forward to them. I also have a new nib for my Edison on the way, as a last-ditch attempt to get some satisfaction out of that pen. Bunch of ink samples too, but I suspect I'll be trimming everything down pretty soon.

Robert.

This is a 790 from the late '50's...after the red emblem was taken off the cap ring (@'55-56). The three cap rings are each separate and different from the later 790. The dome is much more late '40's early '50s influence.

This is a 790 from the early to mid '60's.

The three cap jewel 'rings' are one with three levels. There is also a Geha 5xx with with two rings more the Pelikan 140 competition and the school pen has but one; it was the Pelikan 120 competition.

The later 790 dome is much smaller...more 'modern'...even though it was a tad old fashioned compared to Soennecken and MB and a few others.

I'd never expected to chase 'minor' model changes. :headsmack:  :happyberet:

tijntje what color 'Clipper' did you get?

I have a rose and black and a blue and black stripped ones.

Well, this one came from a local auction site...

Before bidding, I looked for posts here about Clipper pens and admired your pens. The one I bought is I think plain red with a blue ink window, probably a cheap school pen? It hasn't arrived yet, I expect it any day now, I will post pictures!

Oh, also, I just won this Lamy 27 for cheap. In fact, shipping amounts to half of what I paid for the pen. No idea about the interior condition but it looks sweet.

tijntje, There were two on US Ebay, a blue and black ($125)** and a Honey/tortoise (don't know the exact end price...think it was @$85.)

**Some one I know almost got a real good deal from me...with the 'old' price. :yikes:

Look for a three tailed 'Clipper' on the nib, and I hope like mine, yours is semi-flex.

Non Sheaffer.... I'd only seen the stripped piston Clippers.

Then again I don't spend enough time looking for variants.

I will post pictures!

So the 'Clipper' arrived. It looks nothing like the pictures of other German Clipper pens I saw. It has the look and feel of a school pen. The nib has nothing on it, it's semi-hooded, the back screws off to expose the piston mechanism. The cap feels more substantial than the light weight plastic, which says more about the plastic than about the cap ;-).

It's a normal size pen. It's in quite good condition.

I don't expect a hooded or semi-hooded nib to have semi-flex.

(I have read that here were rare P-51's with semi-flex nibs.)

I was wrong about a spade nib, in I have a 'gold' colored Reform spade nib that is semi-flex.

In that I'd never read of any one saying...my semi-flex spade nib, I'd not thought there were any.

Take a regular flex nib press it against your thumb nail until the tines separate. Try then your 'Clipper', to see if it is regular flex, nail or semi-flex.

It would be hard to put the 'Clipper' on a small nib.
