Anyone have pen buying guilt?

Absolutely! I experience it acutely after I order a pen and wait for it to be shipped. Once I receive the tracking number, it vanishes! Now, I am waiting for a Pilot Murex which I won in an eBay auction and a Parker Duofold which I bought from one of our FPN'ers in London.

Aargh! Me too - bought another Phileas on-line today. Must...hide...credit card!!

A TWSBI will shortly be winging its way to me. I don't feel the guilt mentioned above about the pen, but there is a slight pang of guilt about the two bottles of Sailor ink I tagged onto the order...

I GOT IT! :cloud9:

After a lot of searching I found on e-bay the pen I loved most, a Paper Mate chrome FP with fine nib, NOS!

I still remember mine, it was the workhorse of my secondary school and first years at the uni, before it went missing in action.

A MB 138 coming all the way from the good ol USA. Hopefully will be with me this time next week/early May. Completes my grail 13# series.

A 1950s MB 146 coming from Germany. Hopefully will be with me tomorrow or Tuesday (don't you just hate bank holidays when waiting for an important pen?)

My 1950s MB 149, MB 234.5, and my Wartime MB 232 all either been repaired or renovated in Germany. Hopefully will also be with me tomorrow or Tuesday.

Not to worry, you'll soon be in a position to get those grail pens. In the meantime its nice to have one (or more!) to look forward to. And the grass is always greener (sorry, cliche) - I would love to be young again and back in school - I fondly miss those days!!

Was informed that my newly repaired Montegrappa Stradivarius is in "this week's packet from Italy". Woo hoo! I sent it to them via Kenro for repair in December, so this was most definitely the slooooow boat.:headsmack:

Thanks,

Michael

Thank you! While I was completing the purchase process on e-bay, I was feeling 14 again... memories of the weeks I was passing by and seeing that beautiful Paper Mate sitting in the window of a stationery shop, all the effort to save the 25 thousand Italian Lira (about 12,5 Euro) of the price, which was quite a lot of money for a student thirty years ago... and then, finally, the day I was able to enter the shop and buy it! I used it to write all my papers and exams at the university, since the day I lost it, about ten years later. I had been searching for a NOS one for years.

Too bad that Paper Mate gave up producing them.

Two 1930s-era Esterbrooks, a Hero 616 Jumbo, and a Pilot 78G.

For your first pen, you should buy a Pelikan m200 or a TWSBI 540.

For vintage, get a Parker Vacumatic or a 51.

Once you go Vac, you never go back.

Yes, I've been drinking.
