What pen are you waiting for in the mail?

I'm waiting for a Senator President with gold nib! Got it on ebay.... the bid ended at exactly the maximum price that I was ready to pay! Just one cent more, and I would have lost the pen! :(

It should arrive the day after tomorrow thanks to the efficiency of the Royal Mail! I LOVE the Royal Mail! :D

Nice catch, I was also watching that auction but my snipe did not even fire! Do let us know how the nib performs, it had a different engraving pattern than the other gold nibs that I had seen on the presidents.

Hari

Hi! The Senator "President" arrived right now! :) It's much more beautiful, much bigger, much lighter, and much more comfortable than I thought! You wouldn't expect such a quality of the plastics from a secondary brand! :)

I'm really satisfied by its appearence. The nib is STUNNING, it's really wonderful, big and elegantly decorated! It actually wrote badly at the beginning, probably because of work-process residuals and dry ink (the pen seems to have been dipped but not cleaned very well)... however, I've cleaned it deeply and now it writes. It actually writes very beautifully, the nib might even be a lovely B, and is also slightly flexible! Let's hope that, after the cleaning, there are no other problems!

I'm going to bring it at University now, to take some notes writing very fast, ad see how it works "under pressure" :)

Ooooh, you should see the nib, it's incredibly nice! ^^

Much better than the modern pattern of Senator's pens!

Thanks Omasfan, pls take some nics pics whenever you have time and lets see a nice review of this hard to find pen, esp. with a solid gold nib. Enjoy!

I'll do! :)

Probably next week, after some days of usage, I want to be sure about its quality before writing a review.

(ps: I'm not omasfan, I'm omasmaniac! :D If I had known that someonelse has "omasfan" as a nickname, I would have choosen a different one... I recognize that it can create confusion with my much more famous almost-namesake... I hope he'll not ask me to pay the copyright! :D)

The Senator that went for E-36....I'd had you...but I got a live auction to go to...and will be out bid there too. That's a very very long last second...going from E-25 or so, to E-36. I'd bombed out earlier.

A nice pen....I bid, in spite of the fact I swore I don't want no more Black pens....5 of my last 7 were black.

Mine just came in...well it's a Soennecken nib...out side of that...don't know. Piston broken of course.

Nib is flexible, can't really find any iridium,,,maybe a touch, looks like some back yard mechanic did some work decades ago...

Nib may be a "wet noodle", I'm waiting for advice if the nib needing re-tipping, is worth the @$25.00 I paid for it.

Up to ten minutes ago I was waiting for three pens at once, a record for me: Mabie Todd Blackbird flex nib in red marble celluloid, a Majestic flex nib in stripey grey celluloid, and my beloved flexy Tortoise 400 to come back from being tweaked. But my Blackbird just flew in! Much prettier than I expected! . . . and now a terrible decision confronts me: what ink to try in it first. I'm thinking J.Herbin Rouge Opera. Mmmm. I almost feel like I can wait for the others now.

I just ordered my first "real" fountain pen! I'm getting a silver-green Lamy Al-Star with EF nib and I ordered the converter and two bottles of ink (Noodler's Standard Green and Tiannanmen). I've read varying reviews about putting Noodler's in the Lamy Al-Star but I hope it works out well.

Uh...what exactly do you mean by "real fountain pen"? Are there also pseudo-fountain pens? :)

Waiting on another M90 :) *These things are darn addictive*

Don't get me wrong though! The Pilot Petit1s are super cute and write really well (in my experience) and come in nice colors. :) It's just they never feel very permanent and their small size makes them uncomfortable to write with for long periods.

Aurora Optima. Mwahaha! :)

The plan was to get my first Nakaya instead but that changed, as plans do. Maybe the Nakaya will be my next pen.

I don't know why but buying a pen is becoming a more and more agonizing process. It took me a while to take the leap on the Aurora.

I'm waiting for a Sailor Industrial Revolution Pebble Black. It's made it as far as Athlone, which is about a 3 hour drive from my part of Donegal, so I'm hoping that I'll get it tomorrow (Tuesday). If not, well, I may have to stomp and pout and be grumpy all day.

Impatiently awaiting the arrival of a Parker 21, a 45 and a 1960s Duofold Junior. All three for less than £20 on eBay. That's aggregate, by the way, so even if one turns out to be a dud, I won't be too distressed. We shall see . . .

Edited to add:

Well, they just arrived in this morning's post. I've dismantled and flushed all three, and given them a try-out. The 21 is showing its age - a slightly deformed section - but otherwise seems fine. It filled easily enough, but its writing a tad dry at the moment. Nib seems to be a fine, which suits me. The 45 is - well, a used 45! Typical, I think. I shoved a blue (refilled!) cartridge in and the fine nib is working exactly as expected. Happy with the 45.

The Duofold Junior is lovely! Almost totally unblemished, from what seems to be little use, and a lovely shiny 14k nib. Smooth writer. I can easily see this being my pen of choice.

Overall, especially for what I paid, a very satisfied buyer.
