Fountain Pens in Singapore

holgalee (few posts up) got NBC to bring in some. I haven't checked myself, but you could see if they're still available. Probably is cheaper to buy online though.

I think they should still have stocks, do call to check. They don't know it's called Pilot Prera though! Tell them the pens are the $57.80 ones. :headsmack:

I checked some online shops and thought ANBC's pricing is the best. Though I did order two Preras from ebay seller Engeika, because I wanted white and yellow. Now they offer bidding instead of fixed price so you may be able to get one for less tha U$33, but that was after I ordered from them! No affiliation, just pleased with service. Really good communication, and it took three days for them to deliver to Spore, including weekend! And they sell the Pilot Iroshizuku inks too! BTW, if you don't want the CON-20 converter, can ask them to change to CON-50. Just top up a few dollars.

Oh thank you both! I will drop by Kinokuniya one of these days just to check them out. Don't recall seeing any over at the ANBC branch in Raffles City.

For those trying out new journals. Go to Mustafa 4th level and look for Nightingale Journal. Look for their 'Handbook' line. Costs only $5.80. Its affordable and you can use your wettest pens on it. Bought enough to last me a few years.

My friend recommended Nightingale to me too! I think they have two types of paper, the more yellowish type which is thicker, a bit textured and fp friendly. Another type is white paper that appears to be thinner but I've not tried. Anyone knows if there's a difference?

Only the paper used in their handbook is the thicker FP friendly version. The other books only use normal 80gsm paper, kinda like those used in the monologue books. However, the 3-section notebook uses a slightly lighter version of the one in the handbook, as well as a couple of the dairies. The nightingale books appear to be getting more common; I saw some of the notebooks in Kino Orchard, and BBC Popular has the dairies, but only Mustafa has the handbook.

Yep! Thanks everyone! Just to update, Grey is still available in F and M, and the the Baby Blue in M! I just bought the Blue (M) & a Baby Blue (M). Pity they don't come with converters. The lady at the counter told me that new stocks are coming in sometime in the next two months. Going to ink them with some Diamine Blues that I just got! :happyberet:

May I request that you check if Kino has the stub Pilot Preras? Cyberpens (UK) has them but unfortunately, I had a no-go deal with him due to shipping problems. My wife will be traveling to Singapore this April and I can ask that she pick this up if available. This is the shop in Takashimaya, Ngee Ann City, right?

Instead of buying Prera I prefer the Pilot Knight.

Can get it really cheap at any Popular in Malaysia.

Selling same price as Singapore but in RM and you can use your Popular card for 10%.

All in it will cost less than S$28.

Anyway the Prera and Knight shares the same section and nib and you can interchange between them.

Hi there! Yes, that's the Kinokuniya over at Ngee Ann City. The NBC over there is the only store that stocks the Prera (they rang up the other branches). Also, the lady at the counter mentioned that they would be ordering two boxes of pens (10ea), but they should only be Fines & Mediums, like their last order. Minimum Order Quantity for special orders is a box of 10 (I asked). Currently, they only have grey & baby blue left... in Medium, until new stocks arrive. I don't think they would be ordering any in "less popular" nib sizes, unless you ask for an entire box.

Hi Chito,

I have a feeling Cyberpens is the only retailer that sells the Prera with stub nib. Perhaps you can start a want to buy thread or ask if one of the FPNers from UK can help you? Kino gets its Pilots from Japan, so I doubt if they'll be able to order from Cyberpens for you.

Hey peeps! Harris is having a 20% storewide sale, 25% if you have their card. Can get some FPs! :)

Their Pilot Bamboo selling at S$272 before discount, after discount will be one of the cheapest around.

Their Fermo prices after discount will be not bad also.

The rest of their pens are quite expensive.

I forgot their price of the Pilot Decimo/Vanishing Point. Is it $286 or $268? Is that the cheapest in Singapore?

Think price is standard for Decimo everywhere.

It's a matter of how much discount you can get.

I know Fook Hing gives 15%, somebody days can stretch up to 20% if you bargain hard and pay cash.

So at Harris if you can get the 25% members discount it will be lower.

If I'm not mistaker, Harris giving away cash voucher too for pruchase above $50 during this period.

I had no idea there were this many Singaporeans into FP. When my colleagues heard I bought the Sailor Sapporo... (The $$ could be better spend else where...)

I'm waiting for The Writing Desk to stock their J Herbin Scented Inks and would probably grab a couple of Lami Safari there coz of the nibs they offer. A LH and an Italic 1mm and I think I'm done...

Didn't hear much reviews about this online shop.. Seems that I could have gotten my Sailor cheaper via this store if I knew what nib I wanted and if the currency converter online is working accurately.

http://www.thewritingdesk.co.uk/index.php

Now, any letters addressed to me... I ensure that the envelopes / flyers are well used before I throw. =)

Any idea how to get the vials to exchange the ink? Anyone interested to share some J Herbin Cartridges? Placing an order as soon as they have stock which probably is end of the week.

BTW, For noodlers ink, seems that there's a difference between a 1 day old ink (Watery) and 4 days old ink (Saturated)... Am I dreaming?

What contributes to the value of FP? Body? Nib? or like art pieces, beauty in the eye of beholder???

There were Platinum Preppys at Kino in Ngee An City the last time I looked! Great value.

Preppy is really great to start with. So many different colours.
