A sincere man am I
From the land where palm trees grow,
And I want before I die
My soul's verses to bestow.

All those moments will be lost in time.
Like tears in rain.
Time to die.

going to singapore in 3 days time ... would like to ask SG pen enthusiast where can i find fountain pen shops that has the best/cheapest price for pilot and sailor ?

I am interested in any demonstrators and specifically looking for custom 74, custom 92, pelikan 200 (v.2012), pelikan 205, pelikan 805. Main focus is custom 92 preferably price under USD120 ( cause i can get from japan for USD 115 shipped but long wait like 30 days). Any help would be appreciate. thanks

A.bay, fook hing, E & C, and those malls at Orchard may be excluded as their prices are further than the sky.

Crystal Clear Demonstrators are such marvels, each with their set of stories clearly written out for all to feast on.

Singapore has unfortunately lost it's credibility as a cheap city for retail long ago. There are a few factors. First is the dramatic increase in standard of living, combined with the relatively strong Singapore dollar. The other reason is that it does not make anything there so there is a lot of added cost from distributors, transportation and sales tax. Unless you are a VERY loyal customer at the shops you mention, you have to just bite the bullet and get pens you're interested in.

As the result, you can get pens in other markets far cheaper. Example, if you're interested in Japanese pens, best to buy in Japan on the way to Singapore. Currently the US dollar is very strong against the yen, and since all the pens are locally made, it's the cheapest it has been in a long time. Currently you can get a Platinum Izumo for just about $400, at full retail in Japan. That's way cheaper than posted US prices.

However the one reason to get pens in Singapore is some of these stores have treasures you can't find any where else. This is based on either old store stock or that the pen is simply not as popular. However this requires hunting around. Unless you have a lot of time, I would recommend the places you mentioned because you can see a lot within a short period.

Hope this helps. Happy shopping.

I was there late 2015 and visited most of the known shops. Pen shopping (in terms of price, despite tax-free facilities) for me (from New Zealand) was not attractive at all. It was far better for me to buy from AD's in Europe and America.

Furthermore, some of their online sellers were able to match, if not beat most of the offers from other online stores (Europe and America). They seem to be unable to even consider competing any more. I think the pen industry in Singapore now probably feeds off the local super-rich for whom prices just don't matter.
