Hello everyone,

I will be visiting Singapore for a week in June. I wonder if there is any place that sells India made ebonite fountain pens as well as India made brand of fountain pen ink. Thank you.

We don't get any Indian pens or inks here, although you can find an Indian notebook brand (Nightingale) in Mustafa Centre. The Handbook makes a great FP-friendly journal.

Was at China Square today. While browsing thru the sthores, saw a sterling silver Dunhill fountain pen that looks very nice going for over $200.

Seller quite a nice guy, trying to get me interested but obviously he knows nothing about fountain pen.

He offered me a loupe to have a closer look and the first thing I saw was the nib was out of alighment.

I thinked him and walked away.

Was at Mustafa a couple of days ago. They have blue and black-barreled Parker 45s going for $39. Orange Lamy Safaris are also now in stock at the regular Safari price (S$34).

Sadly no-one sells J Herbin here :/

I'd be interested in a mass order, and I'm sure some other Singaporeans would too.

Whenever I visit Uncle Goh at China Square he will have lots of Parker Vacs, 51, Shaeffer Shorkels etc that he will warn me that the filling mechanism is not working.

What a pity cos they look great externally.

Since the pen repair specialist at Bras Basah gone AWOL, is there anyone in SG that can repair such pens ?

Fook Hing at Bras Basah Complex sells/repairs vintage pens. The shop has nice vintage pens like Parker oversized Duofold 1920's, Duofold Vacumatic 1940's, and standard 51, 61 and 75 etc. I've been offered a set of mint 75 Rainbow in original box....really tempted but price is abit steep, ended up buying a Vacumatic maxima and Eversharp Coronet, both in good working condition.

Fook Hing prices on vintage pens are way too steep.

Uncle Goh at China Squre is still the best price wise.

Dear all,

Latest updates from the paper hunt:

MPH Raffles City B1 and Kinokuniya Taka have decent selection of Rhodia Pads and some Clairefontaine paper. NBC at Raffles City also has some Clairefontaine. Kino Taka has the best Maruman range (including refills).

The new shop at Ion called Prologue has a good selection of Rhodia pads and the best selection of Clairefontaine. They also have a good Kokuyo range (including refills). Definitely worth a visit. Better still, its just next to Aesthetic Bay, so you can pop by and get some ink (saw a good selection of the Pilot Iroshizuku inks there)!

Posted this on strangeknight's blog as well...

Wow! So many fountain pen users from Singapore. I am based in Germany and just started using fountain pens this year. Must visit some of these shops you guys are raving about when I get back.

I try to buy German pens since I am in Germany.

My first one is a Kaweco sport classic Manufactum edition. I like the chevron engraving and German nib. very smooth Only S$30.

The second I bought is the Pelikan M605 Blue with silver trim. Really handsome pen. And not ostentatious like black with gold trim. Was on sale for S$200.

A good value German pen is actually the Diplomat Excellence A. Maybe I will get that next. I like the full silver with Guilloche.

Graf von Faber Castell has some really nice pens. But really high priced. Did not buy the pens, but I splurged and got the very nice black grained 3 pen leather case which was 50% off list price. S$200!!

And of course, you see Lamy and Faber Castell everywhere.

Where's a good place to buy Pelikan in Singapore? I am looking for M600 sizes. Are prices competitive?

Hi, been wanting to get a bottle of the Pelikan 4001 black colour ink from Popular Bras Basah & Artfriend but to no avail (sold out), and the other shop at level 1 only got Parker.

Anyone knows where else can I buy the Pelikan ink in black?

Thanks in advance !!

If you don't mind an old bottle, I can let you have mine for free (umm you prob have to throw in shipping though). I had it for a couple of years and only filled from it a few times.

I was wondering all this while what to do with it, as it's a waste to just throw it away, but I really don't see myself using it again.

Try the pen counter in Robinsons Centrepoint, 3rd floor. Or Mustafa's stationery section.

Is Singapore a good destination for fountain pen hunting?

if you come to Singapore to shop for pens, you will be greeted not only by friendly pens shops, you can leave a note here and I am sure a pen member here will make time to meet you. I am one that will make time.

You can also taste our large choice of food here; from chinese, to western, indian, malays, japanese, thai, viet...and these are all just around the bras basah area where you can see pens too.

To follow up the question, is there a good variety of ink brands (e.g. Diamine, PR, Noodlers, J. Herbin, etc.)?

And can I find mid-range Pilots there? We have only Birdies and 78G here. I might be going there next year to visit friends so I'm hoping to pick up a Knight.

I don't think you can get Diamine or J. Herbin in Singapore, but there is a Noodler's Singapore range available at Aesthetic Bay. AB also carries PR. For Mid-range Pilots try the Popular at Bras Basah Complex or Kinokuniya. Mustafa also has lower-range Pilots like the Birdie along with a couple other models.
