Speeno 1013

Hi,

It took me a little while to adjust to the wider girth, (1-2 MM wider than my normal pens). I find that I can use it without extending it, but though the length is right, it is a bit too wide when not extended. :)

Nice pen! It brings us back to the vintage ringtops. :) It takes 8.5 turns to remove the cap, so it probably won't come loose easily.

One of my customers, Tom Brent, sent in the following 'conversation', which I think of as an 'Ode to a Speeno' :) .

Santa Claus: What would you like for Christmas, young man?

Me: Well...I would love a pen that would be durable and compact enough to fit in my pant's pocket or on a key ring. It would write smoothly and have a very fine point so that I could write in a small calendar. Preferably, I would like it to be a fountain pen...a hooded nib would be perfect. If possible, I would like it to expand in size so that it would be a comfortable fit for my hand. I would like an easy fill system that uses bottled ink instead of cartridges. Oh yes...if it could have a cap that somehow screws on so that it doesn't come loose in my pocket...I have enough ink stained clothing.

Santa Claus: So what you are telling me is that you would like a pen that is a combined version of a Fisher Space Pen in size, a Parker 51 in a fill system, and an expanding mechanism like the Rotring Expandable Pen.

Me: Exactly.

Santa Claus: We could make something like that...it's just that it would be too expensive to produce. An Ipod would be cheaper...How about an Ipod?

Regards,

I got one of these cute little things in the mail yesterday. I inked it up with Noodlers black, took off the little chain and put it in my pocket. I was very surprised at how well a smoothly the nibs write. I'm of a broad nib guy, but the x-fine nib fills great! These are sturdy pens and I'm sure I'll be carrying around this little guy for many years.

As for the size, yes it's very small. I like my pens big, 149, Mikado...but once you extend this little guy, it's really quite usable! My only complaint is you seem to need to twist forever to get the cap off, but at least you know it's secure!

Hi,

It's not for commercial (or borderline) posts, but I guess what you said is relevant, and many people will be glad to know a source. These were in quite high demand. :)

Thank you for the lead.

i bought several as presents and for myself but was slightly disappointed. Whenever I try to unscrew the cap of all 3 pens the bottom part for filling unscrews and not the top which is quite a nuisance. the key looks really cheap and the pens arrived slightly dirty inside and bits of glue or something like that on the inside. Anyone had similar problems? especially the first with the uncapping. otherwise they are quite cool

Wish list: Aurora Optima

Current inked Pens: Pilot Decimo - Noodlers BBH, MB Mozart - MB Lavender

Pelikan M150 - Noodlers Kung te Cheng
