I recently received some fountain pens from a friend of my on Flickr. I wrote something in them but they were in a fancy version of printing I have yet to try them in cursive.

I shall get around to doing that. And a Happy Belated Memorial Day to all!

Same with me so there's nothing to be embarrassed about.

Gah mine is terrible xD First try, dip pen. Had fun writing it, but oh that's rather painful.

I've never tried writing in cursive with a dip pen before but I shall do it now that you mentioned it. Now the only challenging thing left to do is to get the damn cap off the ink well! :ltcapd:

Seriously though it's stuck and I don't know why. And it's my favorite shade of blue.

Oh and the ink is Aladine incase you were wondering.

I got it at B&N in the stationary/OMG! I've died and gone to heaven section. XD

I take it that it is a screw on cap? Get a spoon and bash the lid all the way round 360°, then try turning. If it does not turn wrap an elastic band round it and try again

I'm going to have to try these nib-twisters... maybe with a few different nib sizes. I find that if I have an adjoining problem with two letters, I make a break. But that's probably a cursive faux pas. ;)

Aggg... just tested it out a little. Syzygy looks like a fumbled Suzy.

Syzygy is the P I T S! I can't write it and connect all the letters. I complained about the word to my doctorate-receiving science friend and he said, "huh??" He hadn't heard the word - he claims - and he was teaching a small bit of astronomy that semester. I had to look it up, too, of course, but still...

I've been practicing syzygy randomly all day and I'm finally good at it! The first few times I'd come up with syzay, syzyguy, and other stuff, but now I'm fairly competent in writing syzygy. What an accomplishment!

I wrote the whole thing out with my new Pilot Vanishing Point. I scanned it and used it in my review of my pen here.

*Faints*

You realize that you almost gave me a heart attack with your *words can't describe it* beautiful handwriting styles?

I posted my thoughts on the samples on the topic.

Also I had no idea that they had retractable Fountain Pens.

That's hella cool! :bunny01:

Syzygy gives a whole lotta descenders in one word...

Looks odd to me.

did the exercise but I did it by using my non predominant hand (left hand) because I am fully ambidextrous.

I was going to chime in with "Egypt", but I see someone has already mentioned it. Very interesting! I have to write "Egypt" a lot for work, and I find it really painful. My cursive italic speed screeches to a halt, and I really struggle to get all the descenders to look right together. I actually find it easier to write it in a looped cursive style than I do in CI.

Egypt.

Also my worst. Our pastor has been doing a series on Joseph, and Egypt is in every sermon. My note taking is a shambles writing that word so many times.

Might be a tough word to write out but the name is used by a good friend and pen-maker for his Website.

He even has the pronunciation and meaning of the word listed on his Homepage, at Syzygy Pens.

Too funny, this is only the second time I've ever heard this word used, my friends Website was the first and prior to that I had no idea it was even a word or what it meant.

:headsmack:

CORRECTION: Actually it looks like he's moved the definition and how he decided to use it over to his "About" page.

Sorry about that, didn't realize he'd done so much house cleaning until just looking for it again.
