How many versions of the Toledo are there?

Readymade

Recommended Posts

Sorry, I should have added more details :)

People usually say that W-Germany M900s have 4 feathers.. I've seen first hand an M900 old-style but with 6 feathers.. It's vermeil label is 925 (not ag 925) and old style of signature..

So where does that fall into the whole sense of things? Is it a one-off (since they're all hand-made) or new or old (part of the original 500 for US market or older than that, etc)?

Ah, you were talking about the 900. I beg your pardon, mine are 700s and still a few more to complete.

Those are Rick Propas / Pelikanyo Paul / [ historian ] type of question aren't they...

"I've seen first hand an M900 old-style but with 6 feathers.."

The feather lines addressed are on the lower wing...not the shorter cuts closer to the neck area...four in your photo.

How about this one? It's an old-style Pelikan M900 but with 6 "feathers", any idea what happened here?

Is the cap marked "W-GERMANY?"

Is there a "925" stamp on the binde?

Not W-Germany and it has 925 (s. silver) marking so I have a feeling it's not part of the US's original 500 but the 6 feathers separate it from the others..

There is a yellow Toledo M710 and M910. I'm not sure if it is an SE, LE or a regular production model. It's still listed on Pelikan's website.

Hi Dennis,

You are not alone :) . This weekend I found a pen exactly like you describe. 925 marked binde, not AG925, Germany cap, old logo, 6 feathers on mother Pelican, 18C PF nib. Not sold in US but in Portugal in the early 90´s.

Looks like one of the artisans enjoyed a few too many beers or at some point wanted to make something just slightly different to see if he could got away with that :D ! Cool pens!!

Well, that was a pretty long necro. The last post was nearly three years ago.

My M700 (purchased new in 2014) has six feather notches on the mother pelican. This was probably a design change which happened a while back, so not sure what to make of that.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
