Engraving?

I have a lovely Parker fountain pen - don't know what model it is, I may take a pic and post it up as I'm sure one of you will know what it is instantly!

But, it has been engraved with someone's name (obviously not mine!) and I would love to remove it as it's a lovely pen...any ideas?

By the way, it's made out of metal - what a rubbish description, I'll go get the camera :headsmack:

This is a guess based on the nib, but I think it's a Parker 61 Flighter. There are methods of removing engravings such as having them filled in or smoothed out etc, I believe, but for something like that, you'd have to get it sent away to a pen-restorer like Richard Binder.

Thanks Shangas! I've just looked up the Parker 61 Flighter on the net and that is EXACTLY what it is. Seems that I was 'filling' it wrong too, I am supposed to just pop it in the ink and it fills itself up....I've been squeezing it - so I suppose effectively pushing the ink back out - no wonder it didn't last long!!

Ok, so that is the first named pen in my collection....cool!

On that site now, seems to be the Mark III Jet Flighter with the squeeze filler - so I was doing it right!

Fab site but I wish you hadn't....I'm falling in love with the pens for sale! I really like the Ta-ke one in Cotton Candy and he'll ship to the UK....

Just to let you know that I have managed to get rid of the engraving and it didn't cost me a penny! Took five minutes and I am soooo chuffed because now I can use it as my own without someone else's name on it!

I got a nail buffer on it (I'm a nail technician!) and off it came! No damage to the surface of the pen and it's fantastic!

I'm one happy bunny! :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01: :bunny01:
